Really doesn't matter - win when we don't play that well - that will do for me

Keep doing that and we will win this league

I recall Alf giving the ball away down the flank but nothing else other than that, he put a few challenges in, nothing special IMO. With Bright its the fact that he was almost half asleep everytime someone passed him the ball and needlessly gave it away, perhaps one of them was Alf I would have to take another look. Bright certainly didn't contribute anything meaningful going forwards, next time Costa comes on first for me.

There was a freekick around 25-30 yards out stupidly given away, I think Bright was at fault for that too.

Look Bright is really talented, I have no personal problem with him but since the Man City game he has offered very little and seems to make lots of mistakes. In contrast the first thing Costa did was take the ball in quite a difficult situation then skin 3 players and lay it off building the momentum towards the Doc goal for which he was also involved, that's what you want your subs to do.

There were other errors today some really bad ones too, the Coady suicide ball to Ruddy who then miskicked it probably the pick of the bunch but then Ruddy makes a worldy and a few other good saves and Coady was excellent otherwise.

Strange game but glad of the points.

To be fair a few of our boys looked knackered. Jota is brilliant but I think he needs a break, Neves too was brilliant but could use a breather too

Not sure how we came away from that one without conceding. Aside from a few moments where we looked dangerous going forward as standard, was mostly an under-par performance given what we've been used to for the last few months. Good and sloppy in equal measure, I think. A couple of good saves from Ruddy who otherwise had a few iffy moments, some excellent last-ditch defending and blocks, and Reading will likely be kicking themselves they somehow didn't end that with at least a couple of goals to their name.

Think it is probably harsh to label Bright as "shit" as, sure, he didn't really do a lot when he came on, but we were second best and struggled to maintain possession for the majority of that second half. He wasn't alone in not doing anything of note in possession. Almost everyone on the pitch had a bit of an off day, consistency and passing wise. Even Neves didn't quite look his imperious self, and I think he is bloomin' majestic most days.

It was, however, fantastic to see Costa looking so sharp again in his brief cameo. And pleased he's got an assist for his efforts! Also, if you haven't seen it yet, Cav's goal was superbly taken. Watch it ASAP. "Dat composure". Or something.

Yes, we were nowhere near our best today, and could have easily lost as won, but it's a measure of how far we've come that the standout points for discussion are our mistakes, rather than the equally frequent passages of beautiful flowing football we managed to play, and which we take more or less for granted these days. Some of the passing from Neves and Coady was top drawer, and Vinagre – that late error aside – was superb. Doc's goal was just lovely to watch.

Oh my days Ivan. :icon_lol:

Has someone checked to see if their keeper is okay? :icon_lol:

Its just beautiful and his smile as he tapped it in was wonderful.

There is a video on twitter of the Costa run and goal from Doc, no idea how to post that stuff if someone could do the honors!

Actually it really is a lovely move. Glorious stuff. But the defence should be pilloried for their reaction to the Doc after his turn. Someone should have been throwing their body on the line to try and block him but they just ambled around.

Bright took up a good position in the middle that stopped help going out wide to mark Doherty, but surely one of Reading's midfield should have been helping out by that point.

Not playing well yet winning is a sign of a good team. It was always going to be a difficult game so to come away with all three points is excellent, even if not totally deserved.

We totally deserved it as Reading's finishing was appalling.

Agree, that is how Championships are won! Great result today.

Highlights on the sky sports score centre app.

Gotta love mcshane for docs goal, just stands there doing nowt! I never understand how mcshane became a footballer - whenever I've seen him play he's been awful

You and me both. He is shockingly bad. Woeful. Someone at some club somewhere, must surely have done some investigation into how he become an actual pro footballer. He would look out of his depth in Scottish Division 3.

Looking at the highlights - we got away with that a couple of times. but the it is the mark of a team that will get promotion is to ignore that and win away - we did
