Rangers

Again it isn't a case of "learning nothing". This is not the same people who got Rangers into a financial mess the first time around repeating their mistakes. The club as an entity doesn't make decisions, the people running the club do.

I'm sure the vast majority of Rangers fans have no wish to watch their club fritter away money when it's completely needless, unfortunately they have no say in the matter. Sadly if your club gets in a distressed state then it tends to attract people who make a living out of tending to "distressed companies", ie "rescuing" them and then taking the remains for whatever they can get for as long as they can.

Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller up top next season for Rangers then. At least £5k a week each in the Scottish Championship, combined age of about 64. McCoist is a huge part of the problem at that club, he's like a Dave Jones parody.

Those two will score a shitload in that division even at their age. I very much doubt Boyd is on anywhere near £5K a week btw, he was at Kilmarnock last season and they're skint.

It's more about them living way outwith their means. For no reason. Again.

They have Nicky Clark and Lee McCulloch, that is plenty for that level.

Why don't Wolves sign Frank Lampard on £100k a week for next season? Steve Morgan can afford it.

Mike Ashley (he of Newcastle ownership fame) owns the naming rights for Ibrox. He paid £1 for it 2 years ago. All part of the taking over the retail aspect of the club.

He now owns 5% of Rangers.

They are still losing money hand over fist and are looking for new investors.

Ordinary staff taking the hit for the total mismanagement of the club.

Job losses at under-strain Rangers

BBC Sport's Chris Mclaughlin: "The BBC has learned that job losses are now likely at Rangers following news of a new cost cutting drive at the club.
"The Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is to provide a further £1 million loan but more cash is needed before the end of the year.
"It's understood the playing squad won't be cut, but a number of off field staff are likely to lose their jobs."

Its the supporters and the ordinary staff losing their jobs that I feel sorry for.

Turns out that Rangers sold around £7.5m in merchandise last year, the club received around £600k. Ashley has got them where he wants them.

Did he already have all their merchandise rights sewn up then?

Yep. Two years ago (in secret)

He got the naming rights to Ibrox for £1 too (he's since renounced them). Charles Green sold all this off, a proper piece of work.

Meanwhile on the footballing side of things, they've managed to lose to Alloa in the Ramsdens Cup after being 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go. Baffling that McCoist still has a job, a genuinely awful manager.

On the flip side of that though they have beaten a few Prem Teams in the League Cup this season to reach the semi finals of that.
