Rangers

How many times are they going to be allowed to be resurrected before everyone gets fed up with it & tells them to bugger off for good?

I don't think any other set of fans will feel sorry for them if they go under again.

What have their fans got to do with it? They've done nothing wrong.

I was just reading down the list of Rangers shareholders, noticed Ally McCoist has over a million shares then following him Felix Magath with 826,946.

I would humbly suggest that both of those are rather duff investments unless Ashley gets to buy them out.

I think McCoist's was done from a fans point of view rather than a long term investment

Mike Ashley says he is prepared to loan Rangers £10 million. What is his motive? Does he want to take control at Ibrox?

Yes but the SFA are blocking it.

He is also asking for the £10m to be secured against the Rangers Training Ground and Ibrox. In the past the owners of Rangers have said that Ibrox will never be used as security on a loan and have turned down money when that has been proposed. Guess what........Ashley looks like he will get Ibrox as security.

Ashley plans to dump/sell Newcastle next year. Rangers are clearly his next project and see's an opp to get a team playing in the Champs League (all be it for 5 minutes a season and a small matter of getting back to the League required). He is slowly chipping away at controlling the club. Sells the Merchandise, loaned money in return for Shares, got his people put on the board and after seeing his bid to take the 29.whatever% rejected he is now using other avenues to get his hands on the club.

If he can't take control by being biggest shareholder, he wants to take control by being the biggest creditor.

So rather than throwing money away, would it not make more sense for him to sell Newcastle United and buy Rangers? It would make more sense than lending them £10million that he might not get back. That club bleeds money.

If the £10m is secured on assets worth substantially more than £10m then it's a good deal for him.

His asking price for Newcastle is too high. As he has zero emotional investment, he wants what he originally paid to Shepherd/Hall + what he has put into the club in soft loans (over £100m at the last count) + a hefty sum on top to compensate for losing out on tons of free advertising beamed around the world every other week. No-one is going to pay that for a club with a realistic medium term ceiling of 6th/7th place as it stands without substantial year on year investment.

Absolutely bizarre stuff on SSN earlier. They had Charles Green interviewed from a hospital bed, crocodile tears and all about the plight of the club (which of course he had nothing at all to do with, no sir, they didn't burn through £70m in the fourth fucking tier of Scottish football under his watch), presumably he is being treated for Bad Acting.

Tbh it's probably a good thing that McDowall isn't picking the team. :icon_lol:

Shares in Rangers are suspended as they lurch from one to disaster to another.

Bit of a non issue really, it's just whichever plant Ashley put on board to nominally represent them on the AIM won't do the same job for Dave King and his consortium. King will just appoint someone else to do it in the next month but until he does they can't trade shares, those are the market's rules.

Why can't ashley own them if he wants? They don't play in the same league as newcastle, there's no more conflict of interest than with watford's owners etc.

I was thinking similarly. Just let Ashley buy the club, he will probably end up doing so anyway.
