Preston North End - Matchday Thread - 21 October 2017

Crap first half of footy if im honest and at times we are almost playing long ball, lots of niggly fouls from Preston going unpunished but somehow we come out 1-0 up I will take that. They are all over Jota every time hes anywhere near the ball, fair play to Jota hes trying to give some back and getting on with it.

Hoping for better 2nd half.

Ref's been a bit lenient with the bookings, but he always is. Bigger problem is our passing hasn't been good enough, our movement hasn't been good enough and tbh I think we've been a bit complacent, particularly for the first half an hour. Neves best player on the park, both fullbacks have been wasteful for me (even in the run up to the goal, doc's ball out was bad, as was the ball back in!). Cav had also been a bit meh

PNE just looked incredibly well drilled to me. They know our typical movement and have set themselves up to always have two men near the ball. Neill has gotten it absolutely right so far.

That they can have played a bit of a masterclass and yet we're still in the lead says a lot about just how good we are at the moment.

Nevsh is right Alan.

Heard it from a Portugese fan who uploaded the pronunciations of our players.

Yeah spot on it was Doc with the run. Just seen it back.

It was Neves to Doc, to Cav, to Doc deflected to Jota, deflected to Douglas who drilled the shot then Cav poked it in (deflected) I think thats right xD

Amazing how many people seem to think it was an own goal. The comms got it wrong at first too. It was a shot on target FFS.

Lots of unexpected pronunciations in Iberia. Like Cazorla being Cathorla.

Interesting half.

We never really got going, but a lot of credit to PNE for that. Good pressing, lots of niggly, cynical stuff that is going relatively unpunished. Plenty of poor touches and mistakes from both sides. Neves the only player who has been able to find himself some time and space - in a midfield where 2-3 PNE players are often on the Wolves player in possession in a flash, he's still managed to be excellent with the limited possession we've had.

Not the best we've played this season but I'll take it.

Hopefully this plays into our hands now. They've been pressing a lot and should tire having to chase the game. Hopefully gives us more space on the break.

Another clattering for Neves. Finally produces a yellow card.

Brown flying in on Neves after the ref had blown and 2 feet up. 1st yellow of the game.
That foul resulted in about 20 players in a big melee!

Think the ref has done well so far but if he hadn't given even that from Brown as a yellow it would have changed my mind. Fair play, deserved booking.

Neves minor foul - ref blows for a FK then a PNE defender flies in 2 footed on Neves

6 PNE players around the ref, but at least he still gets a card out for the PNE defender

This Johnson lad looks decent.

Another brilliant ball from Neves.

Douglas has been really poor today.

A bit sloppy at times yes but still better than last week IMO.
