Preston North End - Matchday Thread - 21 October 2017

Cav after a great run from Neves and some scrappy ping pong in the box.

Cav makes them pay for niggling fouls

Could have been any one of three who scored, Cav finally forces it home

Douglas with the assist after Jota checked inside and lost it instead of shooting.

Just make sure we go in at HT winning now.

Doherty with a deadly run into the box, cuts it back to Cav pushed it through to Douglas, shot saved into space and before PNE can respond Cav sweeps it into the net.
At last, beat the spoiling tactics with skill and quality.

Why do we keep singing the "wanky wanderers" song after we score? It sounds crap.

Great work from all involved there, Jota's cut inside may not have worked but it forced the keeper to commit which left the goal open for Cav.

Half time - not the greatest half from us, but go in 1 up which is the best response we could make

Neves the best player for us so far. Good range of passing and has made that goal with a good run.

Jota, Cav and Leo close behind. In that order.

Everyone else saying Doherty made the run for the goal?

It's been a competitive game. They had the two best chances but equally as much down to our loose possession as well as their pressing.

We finally forced a good move into their box and we scored eventually. Slightly fortunate to be ahead but we always have that extra bit of quality going forward.

Could have been. Comms mentioned Neves when we broke forward so could have been confused.

I'm impressed with the EFL commentator pronouncing Neves properly too (Nevsh).

Yep, Doherty and Cav played a one-two before Doherty tried it put it back to Cav a third time and it deflected to Jota.

Ref's been a bit lenient with the bookings, but he always is. Bigger problem is our passing hasn't been good enough, our movement hasn't been good enough and tbh I think we've been a bit complacent, particularly for the first half an hour. Neves best player on the park, both fullbacks have been wasteful for me (even in the run up to the goal, doc's ball out was bad, as was the ball back in!). Cav had also been a bit meh

It was Doherty, really good run.

Also the commentator here keeps calling Neves "Nevsh" and now I don't know what the proper pronunciation is.
