Preston 1 - 1 Wolves: an acceptable away point verdict thread

Worst player on the pitch was Alf, and that was by a country mile (even allowing for my bias that I'm not a fan of him anyway).

Costa and Cav played well and equally I didn't think Afobe looked out of place when he came on, a little rusty and lacking in game time but his pace stretched the game a little through the middle.

Preston played ok, thought Johnston had a good game, however the ref should have been a bit harsher on the time wasting they employed from when they went a man down.

Decent point and onto the next game.

We've been blessed this season when everytime we drop points, teams below us don't capitalize.

Preston fans are furious with us for “diving” and “throwing ourselves to the floor at every opportunity”. Cav is coming in for some extra special criticism. Apparently we were screaming and flinging ourselves to the floor and as soon as the ref blew or gave a card we were back up on to our feet straight away.

Preston fans are chatting rubbish. Cavaleiro was fantastic today, his feet were too quick for Preston so they kept kicking him. I don't mean that in a Warnock thuggish way, just that they were too slow for him and Costa.

We do like to throw ourselves on the floor though

Who did that today?

Looked to me as though the ref gave fuck all to the players as Costa, Cav and Jota got kicked to ribbons.

This has been a pretty consistent pattern this season. As soon as we started getting hot under the collar about the ref I knew this would be the sentiment from Preston.

Imagine the truth is somewhere in between.

Haven't watched today. But my observation over the season.

That turn before the goal was class

Odd comment. I wouldn’t say we “throw ourselves to the floor” unless it’s a legitimate foul. And we’ve been on the wrong end of a shed load of poor tackles this season.

I honestly think it's a stereotype that referees like the one today assumes when our guys go down they must be diving or faking it because they're 'foreign softies' or whatever and don't actually judge the incidents on merit. Can't say I saw anyone go down easily today, a couple of them stayed down longer than they needed to maybe to try and prove a point or something.

As if by magic, just seen this on Twitter: #pnefc manager Alex Neil: “Wolves have a lot of soft foreign players. A lot of them go down like they’re really hot.” #wwfc

Nice xenophobia, Alex.

Doherty in the 2nd half for sure, he wasn't getting to the ball and just threw himself (badly),the Preston fans on the side were giving him jip after that...thought Doherty got into some fine positions today but that final ball and he seems very very determined to set Afobe up to score.

The ref was fucking terrible today, Welsh had to go but Johnson arguably should have gone too and was more deserving yet didn't even get a yellow. Referee gave every 50-50 to them and every time they threw themselves to the floor he fell for it but our players had to be absolutely taken out before it was a foul. At one point Costa got pulled down but the referee waved play on when Preston got the ball, very strange. Don't agree with any comments that we go to ground easy, several times Cav, Costa and Jota are pulled, kicked, knocked off balance but stay on there feet yet other sides soon go down then turn it round on us.

We are too good for everyone and they know it so kicking us is a way to level things especially when the referee and his assistants blatantly let it go.

With the ref being the tool he was and the pitch being difficult to play football on we struggled to get into a rhythm but still created the best chances in the first half but Preston came on strong early in the second half and created a few chances. Scored when they were on top despite it being from a corner that didn't look like one and could have had another but then we hit them on the counter for the red card and then there was only 1 team in it. We created half chances and had Afobe been a bit more cute with his chance then we would have won but a point was fair enough i think and with all that went against us in the game i would say it was a good one.

Costa and Cav should both be ok for Wednesday night but they had massive bags of ice on injuries they had picked up during the game after being kicked every time they got it.

Just seen the interview with Neil on the football league show. What a load of stereotypical bollocks, Preston have the worst disciplinary record in the division. They kicked the crap out of us at Molineux and mostly got away with it as well.

What did he say?

"Wolves have lots of foreigners who dive and pretend to be hurt"

Colin Murray seemed to think it wasn't a sending off as well. Basically a hatchet job. They can fuck off.

If that’s a direct quote then that’s extremely unprofessional. It’s also unfortunate that it’s soundbites like that which stick.

For a man who refuses to watch illegal streams because they work for Sky, you seem to be very well versed in the game.

I have never said I dont watch illegal streams.
I have seen every league game this season either on facebook or preferably Twitter

Direct quote: "most of them are illegal streams That I really cannot condone or watch"
