Preston 1 - 1 Wolves: an acceptable away point verdict thread

I didn’t think Preston were thuggish at all tbh just mostly not good enough to deal with the skillful players so committed a lot of niggly fouls which were mostly ignored. There were 4/5 in the first half given against us for the slightest touch when closing down their players in their own half which in my eyes looked like good challenges where we won the ball.

The one he gave in the corner in the first half when Cav 'fouled' Fisher was hilarious. He was just stronger and as soon as Fisher realised he'd had a mare he was on the floor and there's the whistle.

You're rarely going to see a 2 x yellow situation that's as nailed on as Welsh on Saturday.

No cause for complaint at all, moronic to challenge Cav in that manner when he knew he was on a yellow.

I've seen Alex Neil teams play good football, I don't know why he's resorted to this bollocks.

Same with Jota when he had the temerity to challenge alongside a defender for the ball in their box too. Neither player even fell over FFS.

From the Cav cross? Forgot about that, it was even worse!

I haven't seen any more negativity around Ruddy than, say, Douglas.

Agreed. Considering he’s had a watching brief for the majority of this season, he’s certainly had some dodgy moments that I wouldn’t expect a keeper of his calibre to make and there’s nothing wrong with discussing these on a football forum. Apart from the odd ridiculous comment on Facebook it’s been quite tame.

I for example, have literally said I’d like us to bring in a better keeper in the summer, whilst appreciating some of the saves Ruddy made early doors and that he was exactly the kind of calming influence we required at the start of the season.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

The one argument they are clinging to is that we committed more fouls in the game than them. Well, that's all down to the ref. For the first half he was the biggest homer I'd ever seen for a long time. It's no wonder he gave more against us than them.
Another point on this. Given this stat which they are throwing around. If we were successful in "conning the ref by diving and rolling around" as they put it, then they'd have more fouls given against them, rather than the other way around.

Maybe it actually shows that the ref let Preston get away with much more and punished us more often.
