I suppose we did tend to have featureless 0-0 first halves under Nuno, rather than "losing and looking like conceding any time anyone gets in our half" first halves.

He does, he could play a midfield three, he could have played Dendoncker (not that I'm his biggest fan at the moment), he could play RAN so we have at least one wingback who can attack properly.

He could also not set us up in a way that means every time we lose possession or the opposition play a ball down the channel, we look like we're going to concede.

I agree he could play RAN. Maybe he feels Marcal needs the minutes?

As for the midfield 3, that only has any chance in a back 4 (which apparently we can’t play) and even then there is no dynamism from the 8’s. In a 5 it would be even worse.

So there is one WB who he’s got in the squad that could make a difference who he might not be playing because he wants the crock to get fit.
