Pre-season friendly thread

Shouldnt even make the challenge

What challenge? The guy just dived. It's not one of those "he gave the ref a decision to make" ones, it's pretty clear cut, there wasn't a foul or even close to one.

We do look shit though.

Looked to me like he gave the pen because the player was screaming in pain, but he got hurt when Saiss fell on his leg after he fell over his own feet causing Saiss to trip.

Undone so easily by a simple pass. No surprise with that backline

Ok we have no VAR here so have to take that in mind too..just a friendly i guess

Which is Trincaos role in the team?

Struggling to understand how we want to use Traore, he seems to be deliberately avoiding runs into the box in favour of staying near the outside for some reason

Neves seemed to have learned to lean over the ball when he shoots(again) 🙂

The back 5 isn’t much better (I don’t actually think it is better) than what Albion put put out last night. Marcal and Hoever aren’t attacking options and Saiss and Kilman aren’t really the answer.

Add in the midfield 2 and I don’t really know what the manager can do tbh.

Until our players stop getting injured and we decide to sign some people then we’re going to be a bit rubbish.

I can't see that we are trying to play this high possession high pressing football that some tried to convince themselves of.

If we are trying to play like that then we are 0/10 at it.

Plenty of managers make a team greater than the sum of their parts.

What good managers don't do is put starting XIs out that obviously won't work.

If that's what you expect then the worse that can happen is to meet your expectations

I guess Lages wishes of three or four quality signings in the window are valid to make us competitive

Imagine if we got Asensio from Real instead of Trincao

He doesn’t have anything else available?
He does, he could play a midfield three, he could have played Dendoncker (not that I'm his biggest fan at the moment), he could play RAN so we have at least one wingback who can attack properly.

He could also not set us up in a way that means every time we lose possession or the opposition play a ball down the channel, we look like we're going to concede.
