Pre-season friendly thread

We played that midfield three when we probably played our best football under Nuno, with a back three?

Albeit we don't have Jota now, but you could try Trincao sort of up top given he doesn't seem to have a position in the first place. Adama at a push.

Anyway it's alarming that he thinks 3-4-3 with Ruben and Joao together is the answer, one week from the start of a season, AND he plays a high line with that back three, which is Solbakken levels of Berra/Johnson nonsense.

Lage has a strange kind of cultist fan club going on for now but I don't see what it's based on and I certainly don't see it lasting. He seems an alarmingly naive coach to me.

Just my luck to only be able to watch the first half 🙄

Pleased to hear second half we're much improved

Now after Traore and Jimenez were subbed we are more just playing the ball around

That says loads of stuff

The stream I'm using is terrible, hurts my eyes and I can't even figure out who is carrying the ball. At least I get to see something, so there's that.

That 5-3-2 was good for 6 months. It rightly got binned the start of the second season when we were uninspiring. It also relied on Jota and Raul playing at elite levels week in week out with Doc and Donck getting forward for scraps. 2 of them aren’t here anymore, another has been dreadful for ages.

I’m not in his cult I just understand he’s not got much chance. This squad is worse than the one that started the PL campaign in 18/19

2 mins announced and blow the whistle at 90 mins?

Big question out of that: how did the clock on Wolves TV end up being 2 minutes slow? Did someone forget to start it?

First 15/20 of that half was a relief, loads better, not sure how we didn’t score.

pleased for Hoever who I thought did well, he’s really raw in terms of his decision making but has potential. Linked well with Raul too.

we don’t have the quality at centre back with Boly and Yerson out at the moment but they’ve got to be more aggressive (like for most of second half).

going to have to be patient with Trincao I think, he just needs games but a lot of ability you can tell already.

Raul is still brilliant too, thank god

Tbf I think anyone excited about Lage are just trying to meet the future optimistically and give him a chance.

You could well be right about all this, and this time next year he's gone.

I think it's fair to say how it looks game by game, but the guy hasn't even managed a competitive fixture for us yet, he gets some time from me to try and build something, especially as we (hopefully) aren't finished in the transfer market yet

If we are starting the season with Kilman as RCH and Saiss at LCH then we deserve everything we get

It was like an ode to Nuno first half! Must have had a Mike Bassett bollocking in the dressing room as second half was a lot better.
Still struggling to score though. Chances yes,but not putting it the net killed us last year, like it will this.
I though the defence was better, i guess they are learning on the job. Joao and Neves a big no. Donk came on and made it better, but we have to get a midfielder to go with Neves, who i thought was MOM. Neto and Podence back will help. Trincao is lightweight still, but showed some promise.
Siass was fighter of the match. I was hoping he was going to chin that guy just to brighten things up!

I hope we do the second half for 90 mins against Leicester, or we will get wailed with a shoe, no joke..
