Pre-Season 2023/24

Still Neves for me.

And me. Unless we somehow manage to keep João Gomes for longer than 2 years, then it'll be him. If he doesn't have at least 1 CL medal by the time he retires, I'll be amazed.

Was sat opposite end of the pitch, was there contact by Dawson for their penalty, looked clumsy but not a penalty from my view?

No, horrendous dive. Highlights are on YouTube, I was in the northbank too and it looked suspect. Even worse on second viewing.

Not unlike Doc's last week.
Knew the players leg was there so made sure he touched it. Soft as fook but Dawson gave him the option.

Edit: I watched a shite stream so if others have seen a replay and say dive...then I retract the above and call him a diving twat.

Hwang might have some use in some situations if we can create a few more chances, we all know he's technically limited but he can finish a bit, his goal was a really good strike into the corner on his weak foot as well.
He may just be the best finisher we have. He scores the most scruffy goals too which shows he's a knack of being in the right place...

His opportunity today though wasn't easy, just well taken. A very good strikers goal.

I wouldn't say so, we're more than capable of digging in when required.

The major change is chance creation. I know they're only friendlies but we've easily had 20+ clear chances in the three games across the last week. We were struggling to do that in 10 games before.

The major change for me is we’re just very well drilled and well coached. Everyone knows their job, where each other are - especially in attack. That’s full credit to the manager.

Loved Neto's reaction to it

Just watched the highlights having been out all day yesterday. Can anyone tell me who that team was playing in our colours? Judging by the good attacking play and number of chances created it wasn't Wolves, we haven't created that many chances in a game for years!

I’m not sure, but I think on one attack I saw at least five players running forward to be on the end of a cross or pass into the box. Two of them were central midfielders!

Looked really good on the highlights. The pen is a pen though even with VAR though until they change the rule on players finding contact like that. (previously I suggested they need a rule like charging in basketball or similar)

What is the rule in basketball?

Potentially setting myself up for exposing my lack of BB knowledge. Effectively its a foul if the attacking player runs or aggressively contacts a defender who is considered "setup".

Its not on the defender to concede their ground and is determined that the attacker has initiated the contact, so something like that. You see it a lot like yesterday or with other players in the Prem where they initiate contact with the defender, where the contact is within the natural frame of the defender.
