O'Neil Confirmed

I’m starting to think the Man Utd performance was due to the fact that he hadn’t had much time to undo Lop’s preparation.
I am. Aware that others said it at the time...

Thing is it's a slippery slope now. Hard to turn things around when 2 of your next 3 are against Liverpool and City. If Luton do a number on us things will look pretty bleak.

He even said the same himself, hadn't had time to undo the work of the previous management and of course, changes wouldn't have been made if the previous was any good. Fucking crock of shit

Obviously we have no chance, but I would pay Potter whatever he wants and get him in now.

There is talent in the squad - we saw that at Old Trafford. But it’s like anything positive has been trained out of them in the last three weeks.

That was an interesting TWF discussion. Naturally, I was on the right side of it 😉, but I think we now know the truth

It is concerning that the best this team has looked was when GON had the least amount of time to prepare them tactically and in training.

I don't see him going anytime soon. He's Hobbs and Fosun's Master Plan Mk LXIX. December earliest if things are really bad.

And they'd have to be really bad. Thank goodness we're in a relegation league with 5 others (maybe 6 if Fulham have really shat the bed themselves), it should mean we stay up as long as we get results against them.

Our first xi new signings are decent enough for this, although aside from a kid who needs 2 years of development, we haven't sorted out any front 4 improvements so goals will be a worry, and not like they're going to rush out to find quality in January (it'll still be the same type of targets, Adams and Iheanacho).

I feel that it would almost be malicious to get rid of him after just four matches.

Better see some serious upturn in form soon, though, with some actual consistency in it. If we continue to collapse tactically like we did today, give it maybe until mid-October. It's tough and I don't like the merry-go-round but if he flops, he flops.

The new lads will get a chance to have an impact over the next month and then it'll be inwardly focussed on the manager. Certainly when we get back to more winnable runs of games.

If we could generate literally anything on the wings it would take a lot of the pressure off.

He's not getting sacked this side of the next International Break and even then we'd need to lose every match. Remember we also gave him a stupid contract beyond the appointment itself

I would be very surprised if they sacked him this early. Zenga looked completely out of his depth and he lasted 14 games! O'Neil has won a game so we're not quite at Frank de Boer territory yet. If we lose at least three of the next four which is rather likely then maybe they will pull the trigger.

Who would we get if their budget is next to nothing though? Not going to find someone of Lopetegui's pedigree. Maybe we would look at Jesse Marsch - or who knows, Michael Beale might be available...

Apart from the goals we scored today you mean?
First one is a set piece, second one is in garbage time, so discounting it.

When we have possession we just don't create danger in wide areas. We could do with that on a consistent basis, not just in stoppage time whilst down 2 goals and we're breaking other tactical "rules" to keep bodies forward.

Why on earth we put ourselves in this position I don't know.

It's the kind of appointment you'd expect Luton to make if they got rid of Rob Edwards in January.

Actively choosing him and allowing him to cut his teeth with a job like Wolves head coach at this nascent point in his career is an incredibly short-sighted decision.

Think we're gonna have to learn the Lage lesson twice

Who are we going to beat in then next 4 games?

Liverpool (H)
Luton (A)
Man City (H)
Villa (H)

Maybe Luton but watching them on Friday, I doubt it.

Given how this is going, I think I'd rather have brought Eddo back. At least then the bullshit is kind of in the family.
