O'Neil Confirmed

Not sure Ryan Mason is any more qualified than GO.
Different players at his disposal of course but he played some decent stuff in his two mini-spells in charge of Spurs.

In a straight head-to-head choice I'd have taken him.

Carrick or McKenna would've been my choice of we wanted to go British.
British and free was our choice

If we were prepared to pay compensation for a replacement though, Jeff would have been on the first plane back from China so he could pick up Rob Edwards from Luton

Highlights from Gary O'Neil's first press conference:

- No fresh injuries. Cunha missed a couple days of training but O'Neil hopeful he'll play on Monday
- 'Never say never' on any new signings, but focusing on current group
- Unable to confirm if outgoings possible #wwfc

- No fresh injuries. Cunha missed a couple days of training but O'Neil hopeful he'll play on Monday - He punched someone (c) J75
- 'Never say never' on any new signings, but focusing on current group - Say Never then
- Unable to confirm if outgoings possible #wwfc - Confirmed outgoings

Never say never, but, never.

One for the NFL thread folks.

The key bit here is “different players at his disposal”. GO took over a team that had lost by 9 and his predecessor thought the squad was not good enough. RM took over a squad that were glad to see the back of the previous manager so inevitably got initial buy in. Don’t take this as an endorsement of GO in case you were wondering!😁

My favourite part of the Sky GON interview is when they ask him if he's nervous and he stutters over the word 'nervous' in his response ❤️
God, I'm sorry, I'm probably insufferable at the moment.

Maybe he's worse in front of a camera than in front of a team? Hopefully? I'm definitely not clutching at straws here.

He didn't take over a team he was there already, part of the 9-0.

I don't know why people keep thinking he wasn't at the club already.

Got more of a tune out of the 9nillers when the gutless one was fucked off though

I know he was at the club but he wasn't in charge. Completely different.

Precisely. It's not like there isn't a boxful of sticks to beat him with that alluding to him being there for there 9-0 is necessary.

I wasn't happy with Gaz appointment and I wanted JL to stay (despite his twattishness) but I just want the season to start now, fed up of being fed up. I'm not confident, in fact I've resigned myself to Wolves gradually dropping now. Trying to console myself with the memories of Nunos first 3 years, they were fucking exceptional weren't they?

We actually had a team consisting of the likes of Neves, Moutinho, Jota and Raul, overseen by a classy manager. It feels like a long time ago now…

I don't typically watch these as I have no idea what use any of the drills are, but stuck it out because I'm desperately looking for positives to cling to. Ended up just being nostalgic for football practice back in high school. Never thought I'd look back on that fondly.

Seems like Hodge is pretty firmly in with the first team unless a new CM arrives.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy........there is no guarantee that he would have worked as Manager . Great name as a former player and all that , but it does not always follow through into Management .

Same goes for Championship Managers that have managed successfully over the last few years - can they step up etc .

Bottom line for Gary O' Neil is whether or not the players respect him and buy into what he is asking them . They didn't do it for Lage after a short time and we all saw how that turned out .
If we lose the first 3/4 matches it could soon get ugly .

I'll wait and see how we get on before forming any conclusions .

Wonder have we a Plan B...................
