Nuno to leave Wolves

My missus just told me the news I said " fuck off, no way". Then I went on google and it's true. I'm dumbfounded. If you gave me 100 scenarios of anything Nuno leaving Wolves now would have been number 101.
This will also mean all his team will be leaving too. That is all the coaching staff of the first team. Every player of the first team bar Coady has been brought in by Nuno too.
I'm gutted tbh. It really is the biggest kick in the bollocks after a shit year and a half. Like everyone else I can only wish him the very best from here on in. He's a great manager and more importantly a very decent human being.
I just hope that whoever comes in can hold everything together at the club. I can see it all crumbling from the inside if they get the very serious decisions wrong..

Nuno gave us Moutinho, he gave us all a trip to Europe and put Wolves in Wembley. He gave us wins over Man City, Man Utd, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal. He took us to the premier league and he’s been fucking amazing.
But there’s a feeling that he’s become lost. He tried to change our identity (because we were a one trick pony) and he failed. His signings in the last 12 months have Largely been fucking awful. We are boring. We create nothing. We are awful at the back. That team v Everton was going down next year. So something had to change. We all agree on that. And maybe it’s time. We’ll all always love Nuno 🧡🖤
think we're more likely to go down with some of the dross we're being linked with than if Nuno had stayed

It was only a week or two ago he was saying he wanted a bigger squad for next season. I just can’t get my head round this.
It has always been my view that Jeff didn't agree with Nuno's small squad philosphy but went with it because, you know its fucking Nuno. So maybe the last few weeks have been Nuno planting the seeds for the next stage of Wolves knowing it would be happening whilst he is on a beach in Portugal wishing he was back in Wolverhampton because he had forgetton how much his wife can nag. Maybe.

It could also well be Nuno walking away from a project he feels he has taken as far as he can but leaving us some bloody good foundations (Silva, Vitinha, RAN etc). Maybe it's just a case of "job done".

Its not even the dross its that Nuno had built the team and squad - the article on the Athletic today where he talked about the unique squad togetherness. All blown apart today.

as i said not everyone's ideal, but think we need to stabilize next season to ensure Premier status. Bringing in another foreign coach, not used to the english game, could spell disaster.
We don't need to stablise, we need to move forward. Nationality of coach means nothing, Nuno showed that in the Championship and PL.

Dyche does a brilliant job but he is not what we want or need

Sat in Barcelona drinking beer and taking it all in I said to my mates I don’t think anything is ever going to top this.

I'm hoping that someone tells us why this has happened. So at least we all know. If he walked then I have no problem with that after the year everyone has had. If he was sacked however I would not be happy at all. Mutual consent can mean a lot of things..

Dyche's face wouldn't fit- he wouldn't like the players, and the players wouldn't like him. That's a far surer recipe for disaster than an unproven foreign coach.

The end of season stuff with Jeff will be interesting

Fuck it, I hope we wakes up in a year or so with a cold sweat and just says "I've got to go back, they need me"

This is more odd in the context of his new contract as well, his talk of "when I sign something I stick to it". I don't think he is going to Spurs - the club would want compensation surely? This is very much personal reasons I think.

I doubt we'll ever find out exactly what happened. Nuno is a very private person.

If he was sacked he wouldn't be in charge on Sunday. He wouldn't be putting out the comments he is.

This is either a) This season has broken him. He is a family man and he has hardly seen them and he simply wants a break from football or b) he feels he has gone as far as he can with us and rather try to go on and mess it up, walk away now with head held high.

I don't see Fosun just cancelling his contract if he had another job to go to - they'd be getting compo. Probably as much to do with Nuno's mental health - he just didn't come across as the same guy from 12 months before. Let's hope he gets home and gets better.

My thoughts exactly. He'd just signed a pretty potentially hefty contract, we wouldn't pay it up so he could abscond to another EPL club. This will be very much for personal reasons/he feels he isn't right for the project anymore.

It probably is his health or mental state. I'd just like to know the real reason. It probably won't come from Nuno, but at least from someone at the club. You can't do what he has done for the town and club and just walk away without a decent explaination to the fans and people of Wolverhampton. Everyone will understand if it's a family thing.

You only have to read through the mental health thread on this forum to see we’ve got guys who’s had it tough especially over the past year.
