I know quite a few on here don't rate Adama but if the choice is him or Trincao, I'd take Traore every time, at least you get some kind of output even if it is sporadic.

I'm not sure but I think Bruno has a weird tactic of asking his forwards to play a highline but the midfield and defense to drop deep. I assume the theory is to quickly hit on the break.

However we don't play balls forward quickly, or accurately, and the front 3 get zero service.

You can just see it in one of the early highlights on the sky sports app. Defence and midfield drop and the front 3 push up (ended with a Newcastle chance for Almiron).

Then we take into account the quality of the front 3 and its no wonder we often don't create chances...

Their is maybe some traction in swapping Trincao for Adama, then swapping a Sporting player for Trincao.

That's what I'd expect. If my memory serves me right, for the first 2 Premier seasons under Nuno, when the wide forwards went very wide, didn't Jonny and Doc fill in those inside forward positions?

Just went and watched the highlights again, don't think there's anything weird in that first clip at all personally. The whole is pushing out, forwards just with more intensity as they're at the business end trying to press the opposition, it's only the run of Almiron and the pass in his direction that prompts the backline to drop off. I'd have been far more confused and concerned they continued to blindly push out in spite of that run and pass.

What those highlights have drawn to my attention though, Boly was fucking appalling on the disallowed goal. Initially gets back to cover Wood well but then as soon as the ball is played into the penalty box that's all he's got any attention for, ends up casually wandering towards the ball and leaves Newcastle's only forward completely alone right in the centre of goal. He must be allergic to Chris Wood or something, same sort of thing happened with the penalty Doherty conceded against Burnley the other year. Three centre halves, Boly the closest, went completely AWOL leaving Wood unmarked inside the back post and drew Doherty in to have to make that awful flap at the ball.

Speaking of penalties, looking at Sa again on those highlights it's just his form that lets him down really I think. Not sure why he's come out with a leg leading but if he doesn't then I don't think he makes any contact. Surely in that situation all he has to do is come out to close the angle, spread himself as best he can but it's like he's hung a leg out there in an attempt to play the ball. Just trying to do a bit too much in that situation I think.

That's exactly what they did and Jonny has nicely moved inside and out depending on Podence. He didn't have that same movement with Trincao.

Marçal is always on the outside as is RAN so Hwang should always be inside but he's that shit outside the box it doesn't matter where he is on the pitch.

Whilst I'd give Hwang a bit longer, my expectations of him were higher at first than they are now. Seems like he's been sucked into the bang average morass that seems to ebb and flow, But I'd ask Trincao to get his shit together and leave the building.
Traore on the other hand has a high entertainment value. The fastest man in football, very exciting, feeds off the rising clamour, then almost always puts in a shit cross or fires wide or tamely at the keeper. Kind of like having a wank. Exciting at first, but invariably leads to looking back and thinking, 'Well, that was a waste of time'.
I think Neto, Ait Nouri, Saiss, Podence and Jimenez are the best going forward, but it's shocking to see how poor we are if Neves and Jimenez go missing and the rest aren't there.
