We had a similar points policy where I used to work, each occasion you were absent your score multiplied by itself, so four seperate days off a year meant you accrued 64 points and were issued with a written warning. It's because we use a scoring factor to determine if people get bollocked for attendance (occassions x occassions x days) and it does work to weed out the ones who regularly have odd days off here and there. It backfired here though as they changed their stance on COVID a long while ago to include it in that factor (it was exempt previously) as everybody just abused it, especially when they didn't have to give evidence anymore.
So they changed it again, and I honestly think I'm the first one to be there while testing positive. I felt fucking awful last week and still went in, nobody was bothered then. I went in this morning and tested just because Helen tested positive on Friday, and lo and behold I was positive. The reactions ranged from comical to unbelievable.
I bet these people who have a myriad of reasons not to do work because of me (I'm probably not even contagious anymore) don't fucking alter their lifestyle outside of work if COVID is such a massive threat to them. Absolute cunts.
My young daughter was admitted to hospital with a serious illness, so I took 2 days of to be with her, and was promptly issued a final warning with 128 points, threatened them with a tribunal with acas support, warning revoked and came out office with a small promotion and pay rise. .
Handed my notice in, 2 weeks later.
