New Sponsor

I think it’s good - record deal, they’ve made their logo black to suit us, and completely different sponsor for kids stuff, so both more cash and not impacting kids - I’m really happy with it.

To be fair it's not much of a logo is it? I think it'll look smart. Better than the Tsingtao logo imo. Now what am I going to all those bottles of beer I purchased in anticipation?

I hope the kids one comes with the logo. They want to wear the same kit as the players not one that looks similar

Another fucking betting company. I'm not surprised but I am disappointed - the presence of gambling in football isn't going away, in fact it's getting more prominence by the season which is very irresponsible.

Ah well, at least the logo will look better than a bright blue SportingBet one.

It's sponsorship we won't be forced to gamble as we were not forced to borrow money!! I think we could find something to worry about whoever it was. Chinese writing, McDonalds, majors fish and chips.... tbf only Goodyear coming back will do

What, giving money to Yanks, not on my watch !! Manders is the one :)

Ugh, betting.

It's not as bad as The Money Shop, but it's still fairly rank.

Nah, I'd rather not sell the kids merchandise promoting gambling, thanks all the same.

We can't if we wanted to. Betting and Alcohol sponsors are banned from shirts sold to Under 18's.

Ah balls, as per my other post I won't get this. Dont want gambling banned but I hate the normalisation of it and its frequent attachment to sport. Its impossible to watch sport and not be bombarded by it, personally wish there were tighter regulations on its advertising or a watershed on it.

Whatever and whoever the sponsorship was, there would always be something to moan about for some folk.

Think it'll look ok on that shirt, and certainly will have no problem in wearing it.

What is worse, sticking a tenner on Tunisia at 2000-1 to win the World Cup at the bookies, or paying a tenner to draw Tunisia in the office sweepstake?

If that's referring to me, I think it's a completely separate issue to what adorns our shirt, what my son can't have if I was to get him a shirt and the overall presence of gambling in the game. I'm not against betting.

Prefer it not to have been a betting co, but at least its not an obvious one like Bet365, plus from what has been said can't be accessed from the UK (& they have at least agreed to a sensible colour to complement the shirt)

As much as we might want an ethical & non controversial sponsor realistically these are the companies that are going to put the most money on the table & are going to want to complete a deal for this.

Unless the situation regarding access from the UK is likely to change as a result, the deal quite a comment on the popularity of the English game overseas. Interestingly I've just tried to access it from China, and it's forbidden there, so I don't know where they're aiming at. North America maybe? I can get on from Canada.

Do we know how much they're paying, and how it compares?

Betting companies probably make more out of football than anyone else, so it's no surprise they have a heavy presence around football. I really can't see an issue with a betting company sponsoring us if it was the best deal that we could get.

Had to laugh at this. Presumably to allow spaffing when you get a straight flush?

I honestly dont get the fuss around the sponsor tbh. Nobody seemed to mind when it was Tsingtao beer being mentioned. How many homes/lives has alcohol taken?

But when it's a betting company everyone suddenly takes the moral high ground. I dont understand. I've worked in that industry, it's a lot more heavily regulated than the drinks industry and its a lot harder to ruin your life through betting than it is through alcohol.

Personally, I think it's slightly different because you don't have alcohol adverts during every live match, and far, far fewer clubs have them as their main sponsors. So the industry isn't as ingrained into the game as gambling seems to be.

Yeah but having a beer and watching the football is far more deeply ingrained into peoples habits than betting is. Think about everytime we meet up before a match, its always for a pint before and after. if you are watching the WC at home, you will probably have a can or a bottle. Alcohol is pervasive in far more things in life than betting is.
