No point staying as the players don't come to us as we're not the real fans. [emoji6]

A safe standing response from the government.

The Government believes that all-seater stadia are currently the best means to ensure the safety and security of fans at designated football matches in England and Wales.

The Government thanks all the football supporters who made their views known through this petition.

The Government believes that all-seater stadia are currently the best means to ensure the safety and security of fans at designated football matches in England and Wales, while continuing to work closely with the Sports Grounds Safety Authority and football authorities to consider advances in technology and data that may enhance the existing policy.

So basically, sod off and btw we are going to invest in facial recognition and prosecute anyone who dares to stand at a match. On the plus side, as this government doesn't believe in evidence based decisions, we know their viewpoint is wrong.

For what it's worth I've emailed my MP to ask him to attend and put forward my views to him. Guess I'll see what his response is, not that in hopeful he will agree with me as he's a bit of a "yes man".

I've asked my MP Paul Maynard for his opinion and he is in favor of safe standing.

I've done the same but it won't do any good

There's no way I can email Gavin Williamson and ask him a civil question, sorry.

Same for Jeremy Lefroy. He'd probably just call me an oik anyway, that's assuming email is even available in 18th century Surrey mansions.

Response from my MP was a negative, plus he'd like anyone stood up to be locked away or in his words "I would like to see regulations to deal with persistent standing enforced more consistently".

Yeah he replied to me too...Stuck up cricket fan. I bet he's never even been to a football match unless it was corporate.
**His reply to me stated that the reason there is no violence at football is because everyone has a seat and if standing was allowed it would all go to hell in a handcart!

**Not his exact words but the general gist, the gimp

So basically rolling out the same statement as the Minister for Sport did. Safe standing just isn't going to happen in the short to medium term.

Fairly similar to the rest of his letter to me tbh. Might write back and ask if he thinks enforcing people to sit down in public will solve crime across the UK!

Yeah I nearly replied in anger but have let it settle a while. Just a typical, jumped up tory twat who is all about following the party line blindly
