Molineux Extension

I wouldn’t think so - he looked to be in his 50-60’s back then 30+ years ago. Then again?

Brian.

He booked players over at Windsor Avenue on a Sunday morning as well. Incomprehensible rubbish scribbled in his little back book to accompany the flas of the cards. Showed 20+ a game easily.

Lived somewhere near the Flying Dutchman and doubt very much he's still with us - be well past 90 now. Great character though.

He was indeed a great character

Christ you mean it still doesn't look like that? What the fuck happened!

This is surely post-redevelopment. I mean, where's the clock on the Molinuex Street stand? Why is there a field next to the pitch?? (Positioning the new stand there was such a retarded move.) Even now that shot of walking up the steps into the North Bank brings a lump to my throat. But Christ Almighty, those toilets!

With regards to safe standing? How is it that you can fit more people in the stand? As Dortmund fit more in on League than they do European games. Are people allocated a space independent of the seats, rather than just standing in front of your seat like you would now

I assume you can get a few more rows in standing, than people sitting down.

2 Standing spaces per seat I think?

No because the rows still have the seats in with the rail seating, so number of rows is the same. Although with the “clip in seats” I think it’s double but I think Rail is the only thing the UK clubs are looking at.

Think 2 per seat might Be a bit of a squeeze!

Seems there is no definitive answer, it depends more so on the construction of the stand than the safe standing/seat type that's installed. The width of the individual steps to the terracing and size of concourses seem to have the biggest bearing, determining individual comfort in the standing area and safety of movement around the ground with increased number.

You'd think with clubs retrofitting them in place of existing seats there would be no increase in capacity though as I think safety certificates are based on max. volumes of people? Which you'd think are largely based on the number of seats available, so even if you swapped for rail seats and had space in both terraces and concourses to allow for more people you'd still then have to change the safety certificate to have it approved for higher capacity use.

Wolves have tweeted in support of safe standing today. Also highlighting this petition:

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/207040

It's over 100k now so will be considered for debate.

As for the discussion over how the capacity increases, someone standing takes up less space than a seat, therefore when it's extrapolated over 5k there is space to add additional people.

It doesn't add any capacity. Celtic actually lost just shy of 100 as they had to widen the stairways. 1 seat = 1 space.

It can add capacity though, just as it does at all the German clubs that utilise it for league games but can't for CL games. Considering the opposition to standing in this country then I can see a 1:1 system being used if it does ever get widely approved as some sort of compromise.

A parliamentary debate on safe standing will be held on the 25th June. Hopefully it's a meaningful discussion with a positive outcome!

Article in the B&S today about the south bank redevelopment. Seem likely to happen this time next season, no idea what they will do with all the season ticket holders!

I imagine the superfan section will be allowed to watch the game from the dugout.

"I Was At Chorley" stand?

Tbf if I was a south bank season ticket holder I might be considering a move to the NB this season.
