Middlesbrough (A) 30/3 Build-Up Thread

You never know, we might get another all time classic like that 0-0 we had in the prem with the clay heads

If you're not in colours then pubs won't be a problem. We usually have a beer or two in the Issac Wilson aka the Issac Newton (private joke with Jabba and Leeds) and then call in the odd pub on the way towards the ground.
As for parking there is a pretty big car park near Cineworld which is a pay car park. Middlesbrough Leisure Park, Marton Rd, Middlesbrough TS1 2DY

Thanks for this.

I hope Nuno has learned his Danny Batth lesson, we will come in for an aerial bombardment from free kicks, corners and long throws, that does not mean we need him back in the side.

Batth against Traore would be a car crash.

I had a dream last night that we drew 2-2 with a late equaliser. I'd take that now although records are there to be broken and we have to win there sometime, surely?

Back to school on left-right for me :)

these old timey stats crack me up

XYZ team in the 50s, 80s, and 90s didn't win at ABC!

not sure how that affects the current matchup

They don't impact on it, they're just oddities in the cases where Team A hasn't won at Team B for ages and often give an opportunity for people to reminisce.

Indeed. Remember going to watch a particularly dismal match when i lived opposite Ayresome Park in the late '80s or early '90s when at college. Still, at least it was a short walk home.

Had a 4-2 defeat up there when we returned to the 2nd Division and then a 1-0 defeat. The 1-0 was around the time of the child abuse scandal up in Middlesbrough and the atmosphere was pretty vile. I remember our coach getting bricked after the game

Ours got bricked in the first season back which was the 4-2 game, the cage we were in was gobbed all over as well. In hindsight the 'hilarious' way we taunted them about the scandal makes that understandable.

Looking at the dates, it must have been the 1-0 I went to. I don't t remember anything unusual about it but then I seem to recall the atmosphere at games was always pretty edgy back then so maybe it just felt normal.

But then I was pretty oblivious at the time - barely even registered the child abuse thing while I was living there.

Gary Pallister played against us in the 4-2. Not long before he moved to United.

Our players seem to be flying back from all four corners of the world. Have Boro had many players on international duty?

To be fair that was after 90 minutes of quite unsavoury chants !

2014/15, beat them 4-1. Hadn't won there since Feb 1997 before that.

We've lost two out of two there since :icon_lol:

Bolton is the one coming up. We've never won a league game in Horwich. Won one FA Cup game there in Jan 1999. Last won a league game in Bolton (when they played in Bolton) in March 1994. Peter Shirtliff's final game in caretaker charge. 3-1.

Ahhhh Hoodoo hoodoo its all mumbo jumbo so I have been repeatedly told!

Seriously I will take a boring 0-0 point from both Bora and Bolton and walk.

I know I'm going to regret this but like the cat I'd like to know how you think the results and hoodoo are linked together? As the players, manager, formation and style of play are now different and have been different down the years how do they link with the causality of going to lose?

Hoodoo is all mumbo jumbo.....apart from the Boro one.

It's all complete bollocks but that's exactly what superstitions are. Like fishermen never leave port on a Friday as it's 'bad luck'. If I was a fisherman, I'd leave on a Friday just to prove a point. But then again, I don't know how to run a fishing boat so I'd probably capsize and drown, with all the other fishermen saying the reason I drowned was because I left port on a Friday.

Not quite sure what point I'm making now TBQH.
