Middlesbrough (A) 30/3 Build-Up Thread

If Nuno gets a point he really is the Messiah!

With our form here it makes the Cardiff game getting called off that little bit more helpful as even if we lose we'll still have that 3 point gap going into Hull.

That said it could be the year we do something special and it would be one in the eye to the style of football Pulis has inflicted on the game.

This is the best side we've taken to Middlesbrough in what 40 years? A point is no good to them with PNE, Brizzle and Sheffield Utd snapping at their heels so they will need to be positive which could play into our hands.

An important point (or 3) - we don't need the points quite as much as they do

I would like them, but not going to get violently upset if we don't - they do need them to fend of the teams just below. Regardless of this game we will still get the points we need to make any calculation academic.

There was another away ground this season that we hadn't won at in years. Can't remember now which one, but we won.

No major hoodoos broken in the league I don't think, I think it was anywhere between 10-12 years since we'd won at any of Hull/Reading/Norwich (who we obviously haven't played every season in the intervening period) but nothing stretching back absolutely ages.

We hadn't won at Southampton since 1980 I suppose.

Bristol City nearly won at Molineux and they haven't won here since 1931.

Had we ever won at Burton before the 4-0?

Suspect that the current team won't enough realise that we haven't won since God was a boy - none of their parents were here, let alone them when that happened

We will win or not depending on how we perform - play well & we will win, put in a QPR performance & we won't - 'simples'

We last won at Norwich (before this season) in January 2007. 1-0, Kightly, finished with nine men after McNamara and Breen got sent off.

It was Huddersfield either last season or the season before last where we broke a hoodoo

2014/15, beat them 4-1. Hadn't won there since Feb 1997 before that.

We've lost two out of two there since :icon_lol:

Bolton is the one coming up. We've never won a league game in Horwich. Won one FA Cup game there in Jan 1999. Last won a league game in Bolton (when they played in Bolton) in March 1994. Peter Shirtliff's final game in caretaker charge. 3-1.

Went to that game. Graham Taylor had just been appointed IIRC.

Yep, was in the stands. We then beat Tranmere 2-1 at home on the Saturday in his first game in charge.

We were both there for the 5 - 1 spanking they gave us too. The infamous 'Swedegate'.

I went to that Bolton cup game, Keane got both goals I think

He did, proper patched up team as well. Robert Niestroj played which says it all.

Scott Sellars got their goal.

Yeah I was there too, As I remember Fernando Gomez with that brilliant through ball for the second goal

The hoodoo broken this season was our record in November.

these old timey stats crack me up

XYZ team in the 50s, 80s, and 90s didn't win at ABC!

not sure how that affects the current matchup

Come back to us on Friday night with that one. I'd be delighted with a draw expect a defeat, not because of the hoodoo, but expect us to be Pulissed
