Manchester City (H) 20/10: Build-Up & Match Thread

Why are you such a poor judge of character?
I'm no psychologist, wouldn't want to be.
I just read the forum and read how many threads you manage to derail single handedly.
I find it quite boring after such a long time, but you know best as you continually tell everyone so crack on, who am i to judge?
I talk to olive trees.

You know, for the longest time I'd never actually heard that word out loud, so when I was reading it I always internally pronounced it as "hyper-bowl". Then I heard it said as "high-per-buh-lee" and I first thought that was just a Nigella "meek-er-ro-wah-vay/Microwave" situation, until I heard it again a few months later
I do this at least twice a week on this forum with words... (also thought it was just "hyper - bowl")

I hadn't clicked this thread for a while. I know why.

EP makes a post that most people disagree with. Lots of people respond by telling him how wrong he is. EP digs in and defends his point of view, which almost everyone does, because after all, if you have an opinion that you aren't willing to defend what's the point of having an opinion? Everyone then piles on more and EP gets even more defensive.

And so the circle of life on the Wolves Forum continues. It'd be more fun being an antelope on the Serengeti.

Hwang out for at least 2 weeks.

GON - We've had tough fixtures, more tough ones to come, but confident we can turn things around.

Start to the season: "Points wise it's been very bad. I'm the biggest critic of my team. We have given it a good go against some tough opposition but we have to look into the depths of it. There is enough there to have a clear view that we can turn it around. I have 100% faith."

"One point from seven isn't good enough. We have to prove we're better than that and the tipping point will come. We need to get going. It was a good 2 weeks for me to look at all the games."

On Hwang injury: "He's injured a ligament in his ankle and it's anything from a couple to a few weeks, nothing overly long."

On international break: "We can't throw everything away, but we have to see what we can do to improve it. The team have a good understanding of what we're trying to get to."

On City win last season: "The key was discipline, counter-attacking and fight. It's a tough game I'm looking forward to. We have to perform in a way to unite the fans."

Controlling emotion: "The Brentford game was a shock. If we're not at it, it's not just the top teams that will beat you. It can't happen. We conceded some goals that were almost unexplainable."

Bit more on the SKY broadcast.

He speaks about being in this position before twice so it's not new to him. Like he'd just walked through the door to rescue the team. The brassneck to say that and not acknowledging it was his decisions that have put us here.

He then goes in on Shi and Hobbs saying he'd got players in at the end of the window he hadn't planned on and the international break has given him time to look at those things. Well Gary those players have been here a month at least, shouldn't you have realised that by now?

Prattling on about how Hwang hasn't looked sharp because of a couple of injuries he's had since the Asia cup. Why fucking play him then you idiot?

He then blathers on about his opportunities in the coaching world and if you're good enough you'll get there. Which we all know is fucking bollocks.

He's a wanker and I can't wait until he's booted and we get a proper manager.

most of it is delusional
No it isn't?

"Points wise it's been very bad. I'm the biggest critic of my team. We have given it a good go against some tough opposition but we have to look into the depths of it. There is enough there to have a clear view that we can turn it around. I have 100% faith."

Rubbish points return - correct
Given it a good go - I mean we have. We were in good positions and playing well at points against all of Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa and Liverpool. Various failures later in the game but it's not like we're getting thumped 5-0 and totally outclassed. And he has to have faith in himself and the team, doesn't he?

"One point from seven isn't good enough. We have to prove we're better than that and the tipping point will come. We need to get going. It was a good 2 weeks for me to look at all the games."

Rubbish points return - correct

"He's injured a ligament in his ankle and it's anything from a couple to a few weeks, nothing overly long."

Injury news, so unless he's lying then not sure how this is delusional

"We can't throw everything away, but we have to see what we can do to improve it. The team have a good understanding of what we're trying to get to."

We need to improve - correct
Only he and the squad will know if they actually are buying into what he's saying. It isn't a case of them not trying, not at this stage anyway

On City win last season: "The key was discipline, counter-attacking and fight. It's a tough game I'm looking forward to. We have to perform in a way to unite the fans."

Fair enough assessment of last season's game, not that it's really relevant, but he was asked...
And we DO need the fans onside

"The Brentford game was a shock. If we're not at it, it's not just the top teams that will beat you. It can't happen. We conceded some goals that were almost unexplainable."

This bit I don't agree with. Lots of it was in the post, from our set piece defending to conceding straight after scoring to having no control of the game. And it does speak a little to them expecting to beat Brentford because well, they're Brentford, when we all know it doesn't work like that.

So one bit that's a bit bullshitty, the rest is fine. It's not "mostly delusional" at all.

There's plenty to criticise without slagging him off for no reason.

I think we are again at what Kenny would describe as the annoyed at everything he says phase. There's very little to get bent out of shape about there, nothing he can say bar "I'm shit and should be sacked" is going to be acceptable if that's where you are at.

Yep was about to fire up that response, so cheers for saving me some time

He could stop making it everybody else's fault?

Nuno always looked for solutions this bloke looks to blame everybody else.

We've all worked with somebody who thinks it's always somebody else's fault and we all think they're a wanker.
