Manchester City (A) 14.01.2019

When your manager goes on national TV and says it's a red I think you can kiss goodbye to the appeal

I think he was just stating that a red was given, unless he was asked directly if he thought it was a red or not

Struggling to find any nuance in "It's a red card, no doubt about it".

What tonight's game showed, and not for the first time is that Doherty is a piss poor. defender

Only saw the 2nd half, and in the circumstances a creditable effort. Could have ended up more than 3 if the attitude and performance didn't show character.

As an aside, Yaya Toure's ears: WTF and how have I only just noticed them?

A few thoughts:

- Doc has been very good for the last three months or so (bar Huddersfield) but that is truly horrible from him tonight on the first goal and Nuno didn't sound happy afterwards. Body shape all wrong, on the front foot rather than worrying about anything in behind and as soon as it's played (great pass) then it's basically a goal.

- The right hand side channel was a problem for us all night, off nights for Doc (as a whole) and Bennett. But then again Sané is a bit special

- Bullshit is it a red card. I don't care about current directives, that is nonsense. He's won the ball clearly, there's a huge gap between the ball and Bernardo, his foot doesn't leave the ground, where is he meant to go? No chance of it being overturned though. Let's have some common sense again please, it's a contact sport

- Jonny has to shoot with his chance, that ball to Jota is a 1000/1 shot

- Having seen multiple replays, there's enough contact for it to be a pen, Benno doesn't need to make the challenge though. Rui has that under control, Sterling isn't scoring from there. Split second stuff though and easy for me to say

- No complaints with taking the front two off, let's keep them fresh for a game we have a chance of winning

- Very, very tough job for Traoré when he came on but by Christ he doesn't do himself any favours. Nothing is changing with him I'm afraid in terms of learning how to play and work ethic should be a pre-requisite, he didn't close down on the corner for the third goal at all and there was one joke offside where being caught there should be a week's wages fine. Clock's ticking with him I suspect as far as the management are concerned

- We didn't give up despite everything and plenty of other teams will lose (and have lost) by more than three there and put up less of a fight with 11 men

- Dendoncker, Moutinho and Patricio were all excellent

Haven't seen the incident but judging by that photo how on earth is that a red card!?

Almost home from the meeting as well.

It was mostly a corporate event organized by Fosun's Portuguese branch and corporate partners. Couple regular fans like me but nothing to shout home about.

Decently and neatly organized, very nice sports bars (mental note to take visiting people there) and had a few scarves and shirts around. I'll post some pictures later.

Had a chance to talk with the Fosun rep at the event. Nice, down to earth gal. Saw the Everton home game at the stadium. Said this one was meant as a trial and that they want to make this a regular thing. Took my phone number to keep me in the loop.

Basically, a decent night out to watch Wolves. Definitely going again whenever they repeat the initiative.

Ah, we did get a short clip from Nuno to the people at the meeting so it was a nice surprise

He gets the red for this bit a split second before

The stupid directive is "excessive force" and/or "out of control". It was neither.

Won't get overturned though.

I'd accept that if Bernardo happened to be on or very near the ball when the tackle is made but he isn't, he's a long way away (in relative terms) and remains a long way away when the ball is won.

Yeah. We lost Boly for a few games. We should not be crying about it. We should not care about tonight's score. Rock N Roll. We will prove that Wolves are the best of the rest.

I agree, I said further up the thread that I didn't think it was a red, but it's the two feet off the ground element, be it before contact, that he he's most likely done him for and deemed that as out of control

It's a horror show of a decision but it won't get overturned so on we go.

I'll say it again: take a gander at Yaya Toure's ears. What in the actual fuck!
