Manchester City (A) 14.01.2019

Reality is I think we would still have lost regardless of the red card.

We did pretty well there after the red card. Well done to the boys.

what could have been a great spectacle ruined by some poor and inconsistent refereeing

3 nil loss to the champions having played 3/4 of the game with 10? Can't praise them high enough.

Might have kept it to 1-0 maybe, but they are a different level to us just for now. Let's look forward to taking them on again next season (unless we see them in the later rounds of the cup)

Who knows whether we would have actually closed them down 2nd half with 11 men, like at spurs.... Probably not
As it was, it was a training game for City... Never got into them at all.

Fairly impressed with Dendoncker when he had to move back - a better option than using Saiss there

Dendoncker is starting to look like the player I was looking forward to watching

Good performance from both the team and the fans under the circumstances.
Shouldn't be letting them keep taking short corners with no pressure though. Should have learnt from the first half, I thought one was a replay but it was a carbon copy of a previous one.
The third goal in particular is a case in point, too easy, fuck knows what adama was doing.

Doubt if he did either - we should have worked out that they were not going to go all Cardiff & fling it high into the box at every opportunity

We have bigger players than they do

Mark Battenberg cake says..

"With instances such as this where the player wins the ball and his follow-through catches the opponent, we are advised that above the ankle is red, below is yellow.

Consider this: if Silva hurdles the challenge then Boly’s tackle is probably applauded. As it is, Silva gets there after the defender and is caught. But where can Boly put his foot after he wins the ball?

Yes, Boly leaves himself open to more than a yellow because of the force, but for me this would have been a free-kick and a caution"

I am sorry but I won't agree with it at all.

It's an abominable decision.

Watched the game on Bein Sport and Andy Gray said it wasn't a red. He said it was a lose ball which Bolt was entitled to go for, at worse a yellow.

I still think the players histrionics after the tackle played a part in the red card

That's what makes the game so good.

I said Definately a Red
Never a Pen
