Manchester City (A) 14.01.2019

If a Man City player made the tackle, I don't think many on here would be saying it wasn't a red. It was aggressive, he could've won the ball with a lot less force IMO.

As an aside, I hate this. Politicians do this 'what people want' nonsense all the time with absolutely no evidence for it and I find it pretty insulting and arrogant.

Today's agenda:

1. Annoy Johnny [emoji818]

Thats the big issue with referees - there is way too much interpretation and inconsistency.

There is no doubt that Fernandinho's challenge on Jota was more dangerous and Kompany's on Salah the week before was much more dangerous. Both were yellows. We need to be putting refs who do this shit on unpaid leave. Only way they will learn

What about the Fernandio tackle on Jota. He took him out deliberately and gets a yellow. The one by Boly wasn't intentional.

Having calmed down somewhat I still say we wouldn't have got either of those decisions.

Was it similar to Jagielka's challenge on Jota 1st game?

No. Jota won the ball and knocked it past Jagielka who then clattered him. Boly touched the ball under control (as DW's pic shows) and it wasn't even a challenge on Silva the ball was free.

Both Spurs and Chelsea were similarly 1-0 up in the first half and cruising against us, we were definitely still in the game.

True but I think City are another level above those two teams, it’s completely hypothetical as we’ll never know.
Only thing that winds me up is we had challenges put in our players every other game with only a yellow card being shown.

Talkshite about to discuss the big teams getting all the decisions based on the Boly red. If you can stand hearing Jim Wight talking from up his arse it could be interesting.

The did look susceptible at the back though, a few times Traore got clear, but ended up surrounded by 4 players with no with him. If we have 11 players then he would at least have had one or two with him.

They did look fragile at times. Jonny should have shot or played a better ball to Jota when down to 10 men and straight after the goal Doc gets played in and decides to aim for a fan in row Z from the Van Basten angle.

Traore doesn't make it onto the pitch if we're still at 11.

I think he would. Last 10 - 15 if its still close.

Only change I would have done different last night is Vinagre for Jonny in the 2nd half. The rare occasion we got close to the half way line, Jonny was our most forward player (comms kept calling him Jota as well...I could start a whole new thread ont he shite from those 2 last night) but you know when he gets the ball there he isn't going to sprint forward with it.

Not going to moan about the pen or the red card (whether I agree with them or not). We were likel to lose by 2 or 3 with 11 men so we move on and now we have a run of fixtures ahead of us that, if we are on it, will secure our mid table finish. Boly out for 2 league games? (FA Cup slots in the middle I think),

I would've put Vinagre on as well but for Doherty. Not hating on Doc here btw, just that he was up against Sane in full flow and couldn't get near him. Not saying that Jonny could've stopped Sane, who btw was absolutely incredible to watch live last night, but he would've stood more of a chance than Doc did as he's excellent in 1v1 situations.

Think the big problem on that chance for Jonny was Jota's presence.

Don't think there was really space for Jonny to get a decent shot off, if it had been a natural left footer than I think they let it run across them and then they've got more space outside of Walker to get the strike away but with Jonny being so much stronger on his right that was never going to happen so he's got Walker right in front of him and Jota cluttering things up just inside. I think if Jota had made his run across Jimenez's path, providing a passing option either side rather than both to his left, then it opens up more space for Jonny and he's then perhaps got a better chance of being able to get a decent shot away with his right.

It's one of those situations that have been seen quite a lot this season, think Liverpool at home in the league had quite a few instances, where there looks to be a decent opportunity to break through but just struggle to get it over the line and create a proper chance out of it. Highlights the ruthless nature of the Premier League and the gulf in quality to the very top teams where they make the very most of those slightly openings and punish you more often than not, such as City's goal last night where Doherty takes his eye of Sane for a second and he's lost then Jesus anticipates it so much quicker than the back three so he's got a tap in out of nowhere, but at the moment Wolves aren't quite at that level so they're not always able to take advantage to such an extent.

If Jonny had played a slower pass, Jota would have got to it.

it was like he was caught in two minds and ended up with a rubbish shot that was too hard for a pass. It was the best chance we had to get anything from the game. Could we have held out for a draw with 10 men? Debatable, but sides have done it. It's all academic now. On to Leicester

First time post, so be gentle

Only seen brief highlights, and at first glance can't really complain with the decisions, the ref or the score considering the circumstances. This is the way the Premier League goes, you win some, you lose some, just dust our self down and get on with it as what done is done, but enjoy the ride.

Main point of my post, is that Man City are a quality side, no doubts, with talent in abundance. Wolves are not at their level yet, we're on a journey with a long range plan, and based on where we are now lets see where we are in 3 to 5 years when we have (wisely) spent hundreds of millions.

Lets just do the right things on and off the pitch.

Welcome! And good first post very balanced, not sure that will get you far on here mind :)

As long as he/she doesn't have a nuanced view on Traore they'll be fine
