Manchester City (A) 14.01.2019

Welcome Charlie Wolf.

First the penalty. Without a doubt a pen. IMO, as I didn't see any pulling first by Sterling and Bennett tripped him.

As for the red card; never a red IMO, as Boly plays the ball and catches Silva's foot by accident on the follow through with his foot sliding along the ground. A few years ago it wouldn't have even been a foul, but on today's standards it was at the most a yellow card. I'm amazed at Nuno's comments and feel Wolves should have appealed.

At the end of the game, Silva went over to Nuno who initially waved him away with a dismissive gesture, but Silva spoke to him anyway and quickly earned himself a hug from Nuno.

Silva: Can I come to Wolves on loan?
Nuno: No, you'll want too much money
Silva: I'll play for nothing
Nuno: Big hug

Having now settled down from the game and had the benefit of some replays I'm still of the opinion I was last night.
the Boly red was an awful decision, he won the ball and Silva was clearly not in his path. In fact, I'm not sure if it was brave or stupid of Silva to not hurdle the tackle and put himself in danger!

The pen was absolutely nailed on, Sterling is past Bennett and there is contact at the knee. Silly of Bennett as the ball is going nowhere and he is too far away from the ball to touch it.

All this detracts from how good City are, consistently playing balls that look almost within reach but aren't (see Doc going to intercept the ball in the build up to the first goal). Sane was almost unplayable at times, his feet are so quick and with David Silva supporting him is was clear they had targeted Bennett and Doc.

Shout out for Dendoncker who I thought played really well, especially after he dropped back to cover for Boly's absence.

Second shout out to the Wolves fan who started the chant "You're just a shit Bonatini" when Aguero came on!

I agree. Guardiola is one of the best managers football has seen and City is full to the brim of world class players. They never looked in real danger, even from our most successful advance.

Another level entirely.

We'll get there.
