Loan Watch 2022/2023

Neves, Jota, Boly Premier league standard.
Ruddy, Bennett, Doc (at best)Afobe, Bath, Championship level.
Bonatini and Douglas in reality probably div 1.
Saiss, Championship midfielder, Premier league CB imo, although I realise a lot of our fans thought he needed upgrading from day 2 of our Premier league time.
Coady, difficult, did a great job for us in that specific role Nuno found for him. Reverting to Championship level nowadays.
Nuno got the absolute best, every ounce of talent from Coady, Doc, Bonatini and Douglas, like I said Nuno was a genius.

Harsh on Douglas. Best foot I’ve seen on a player at Wolves. JWP has made a career from a similar ability.
Great in our Championship season, as you say a cracking left foot, but the rest of his game left a bit to be desired, poor defensively (he didn't need to do much defending) His career trajectory after he left has been downward I think?

Boly, Neves, Jota, N'Diaye, Saïss, Cav, all too good for that level that year IMO. First three embarrassingly so, as you say. Being able to pick from two of N'Diaye, Saïss, and Neves in midfield was practically cheating.

Granted that Doc and Barry were star-shaped pegs for our uniquely star-shaped holes at each wingback, but can't argue with their effectiveness for us, really.
You're overeating N'Diaye, he was very average

Alan’s got a Whitney Houston vibe with him going on you know a N’Diaye will always love you.

Thank you very much, my work here is done, you’ve been a wonderful audience.

1) Saïss should never have been moved out of midfield.
2) N’Diaye I maybe overrate because in hindsight, whatever his shortcomings, he was the exact kind of midfielder we’d end up crying out for in the coming seasons. With hindsight on Dendoncker being what it is, I’d rather we kept Alfred.

This is what I remember from then too

Late to the Fabio discussion, but I agree with whoever said it’s a no-brainer to bring him back.

It’s an area of the squad we are lacking goals and quality. Can’t imagine Costa will be kept on. No idea what Sasa will be coming back like after such a long lay off (and his injury record worries me anyway), Raul will likely be here but there’s obvious question marks on him. We need more options and he’s our player so let’s use him. Time will tell whether he has a long term future here, but we won’t know unless we give him time on the pitch.

With such a big spend this year, I can’t see us spending a fortune on a new forward without some serious outgoings first.

That’s exactly where I am at. We have spent a fortune. We might as well see if it isn’t a complete bust.

Stoke fans like him and Sterling, attacking full backs that are good on the ball.

Maybe all he needed was a good coach and games.

He also got an assist with a cracker of a ball for their second.
He didn’t look like he could cross the road at times over the last couple of seasons. Hopefully they’ll be some value in him having impressed recently.

His crossing was woeful when he was here but we did constantly try to put him in crossing situations, even from set pieces, so there must have been something in there.

I think back to the Chorley game and against non league opposition (others were the same too) he didn’t look like he had a clue what to do in the final third.

I think he'll do ok, he's physically much stronger and a bit quicker than he was for us. Although it'll be weird having a centre forward who actually wants to get into positions to score.

I watched Felipe open up ground on Cunha in a sprint yesterday and the guy makes no effort to contest for the ball so he cannot be any worse

Yerson got the only goal and a clean sheet in Cincy's 1-0 win over the Fighting Phil Nevilles yesterday.

Goal @ 3:15.
