He's going tonight and playing tomorrow. He retired from playing for Cameroon so this was the compromise
Seems unfair that United have their own rules compared to everyone else?

Also what was the Belgium comment you quickly amended?!

Bosh.

@Elephant Pyjamas they did a deal with Cameroon as he sort of retired. Which of course makes a mockery of FIFA enforcing anything and how must the backup United keeper feel, we don't trust you to play any games!
All players could say they have retired then and work this for their benefit, this ay right.

As you say the 2nd choice (I don't even know who it is anymore, which probably says as much about United as me these days) must feel great, Onana is not even good.

Some Turkish lad, I don't think I've ever seen him play. Not a good look though.

You get this crap all the time, like United getting a work permit for Tim Howard in the same window we couldn't get one for Carlos Kameni. Utter madness. It's over 20 years now and I'm still choking on my own rage here.

He "retired" because he's a dick, to boot (although IIRC the Cameroon manager at the time was no angel, think it was the guy just before Rigobert Song got the job).

Which is to say, I think he's doing exactly what you suspect.

Much, much less important but it pissed me off that United were allowed to change the rules about squad numbers so Ronaldo could have no. 7 when he joined. Load of bollocks, they DO do what they want.

Ah, that's been around a while. Well before Cron returning.

We changed Fabio's number this season and it went brilliantly. In as much as it gives Leon competition in the "worst #9 since squad numbers came in" stakes.

You'll have to take it up with FECAFOOT. Good luck! 😂
Had no idea what that was, had to look it up.

Best football federation name ever!

But it shouldn't be down to them, FIFA should have a deadline, one for all, that should be it.

That's some rancid set piece defending

Not how i remember it,

"Premier League rules state players cannot swap numbers mid-season, but the door was left ajar for a change when Dan James was sold to Leeds United.
That left the number 21, which Cavani wears at international level with Uruguay, free and it would appear the Red Devils were given the green light by the Premier League to make the switch as they have confirmed Ronaldo will wear the iconic number seven shirt."

However, since the number is already assigned to Cavani, he can't wear seven, as the Premier League season has already begun and swaps between players during the campaign are against the rules — unless Cavani leaves or the League grant special dispensation for the first time ever.

Obviously once that rule was changed we did it for Fabio, but i'm sure that prior to the above precedent it hadn't happened before, anyway grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, but it niggled me at the time as they were breaking the rules just for marketing reasons, which is obviously bollocks.

Don't doubt me, man.

All the way back in 1996 it was a thing.

Probably going to inspire a 2nd utd goal but christ they are shit today

You'd never guess Rashford's previously good form, watching him now.

I keep saying it, but it's absolutely fucking ridiculous that United have Jonny Evans as a first team CB.
