I'd say hand to ball, yes.
Ball to hand, no.

They could get some goon who wasn't actually good enough to play the game at any decent level to review it over and over again to decide if they want, but it if the above was the rule, there would be less annoyance for most football fans
and all the ex-pros, pundits, commentators etc
This is laughable stuff.

What does playing the game have to do with anything?

No idea how wolf tones message got there, but anyway, is de gea on drugs, another slow motion attempt at a save.
come on city, fuck em up now.

So there are basically no penalties given for handball unless someone punches it off the line. Seems good.

The law has always been worded appallingly.
Jug ears reckons it’s changing next season.

It's the same reason they have ex-pros as pundits. They've experience.
I've not heard any manager, player, fan, say that handball rule as it stands has improved the game or is in any way fair.

You've highlighted 2 different things.

1) Playing the game doesn't have anything to do with knowledge of how the human body works or the physics of a football (that'll be analysts and biomechanists).

2) the handball law isn't fit for purpose.

I'll add that most pundits are as thick as pigshit and know the sum of fuck all about the game they played.

Point 1) Agreed. Refereeing the game doesn't either.
Point 2) Agreed.

On pundits: JJ, Lineker, Shearer, Schmeical and Richards all thought it shouldn't have been a penalty. Perhaps you're right on pundits 😂

I disagree with the "they've not played the game at the top level, they don't understand the game" narrative. Without sounding like a cunt, there's no way that whatever national percentile I'm in as a footballing technician (poor) is the same as it is as an athlete (basically disabled) and a tactician (maybe top 0.5-1%)

I jest but the point is there. Nedum Onhua can't tell me a fucking thing about football. I don't care what he thinks is offside or what is a tactical mistake. The pressure, or specific instructions of certain managers, fair enough, but I probably watch more and understand more deeply about how KdB sees Haaland's runs than some shit right back does

TWF's Arrigo Sacchi. 🥰

It's a weird one because obviously working in a particular industry doesn't automatically make you an expert... But equally I'm probably not listening to programming advice from someone who has never been paid to write code.

To a certain extent it's a wonder anyone watches with the volume turned up as we're all guilty of thinking we know better. 9 times out of 10 the commentary just serves as antagonization.

Unavoidable accidental contact is not penalised - such as if the ball is struck against a player's arm at short range and the player could not have reasonably avoided the contact. However if the player has positioned their arm so as to make their body "unnaturally bigger" and contact occurs, this is considered handball.

Grealish today = No penalty.
Ref/VAR = wanker

The two females in HR may disagree

Ffs.

Like it's mad. I can kind of get how people can be like this in certain enclosed environments etc, even if it's not how I'd be. But let's be real this is a particular corner of the Internet that's basically woke as fuck, yet there's still a handful of Jim Davidson mufukas that think this shit's not only OK, but actually going to make people laugh
