For context Alan, the UK is one of the most atheist countries in the world in terms of the population.
Yet, it has a religious leader as head of state, is one of only two countries to have unelected religious leaders in Parliament and has religious state funded public services such as a huge number of religious schools that select based on faith.
It's not just a case of what individuals get up to on their own without bothering others. And it rankles.

It strikes me that part of this cultural divide could be to do with the fact that the American psyche doesn’t have quite the same relationship with “divine rule” as the British psyche likely does.

Yet, in the UK there are differences. Northern Ireland has a far lower percentage of irreligion than Wales, Scotland and England.

"Keep your religion where I can't see it or hear it" is not so different, is it.

Yeah, when it comes to the history of oppression, Christians in this country really have had it hard compared to gay people 🙄

Bottom line is, if you waffle on about God its difficult to do so without sounding pompous and self-satisfied. Moore certainly didn't manage it, any more than Nathan Jones does.

You don't get to be above a bit of mild criticism just cos you think you have an afterlife pass

The examples I gave which were American rather than UK are because I think putting things down to God over/underplays accountability, skill and good/bad luck. It doesn't offend me, I do find it grating though, but accept that's a UK person's perspective of another country's culture.

Whilst listening to Moore my thoughts were “oh you’re religious”, then completely ignored that aspect and listened to what else he had to say. Didn’t expect it to cause such a shit storm.

I wouldn’t hold anything against anyone who decided to be religious and certainly wouldn’t be annoyed if someone wanted to “thank god”, just ignore it as a bit meaningless from my POV. I’d file it with underwear ironers. Complete waste of time but it doesn’t annoy me and I’m not going to hate you for it. Might make me think you’re a bit weird but wouldn’t be a deciding factor.

If someone is the kind to ram religion down your throat then they get deal with in the same way as flat earthers etc. Total weirdo who is best ignored.

Just to add to that, there is also the implication that god 'cares' more about the victor than the side / opponent that just lost.

This is where I am.

Yeah, apologies if I've come off as crass, or worse, drawing too much of an analogue between the choice of religious belief and the nature of sexuality.

Bad day yesterday (capping off a very long week) and think I was looking to pick a fight. I stand by my feelings on the topic but there's a time and place, and yesterday + this thread weren't really it.

I'm not an atheist, or an agnostic, i am am a total this is bullshit, dont believe a word, the bible is a work of fiction, and fails to justify why so many wars, and why so many people have died in the name religion, god, faith, or whatever kind of crap.
That said, "phew" i am an each to their own man.
If you believe god, good on ya, but dont try and foist your beliefs on me.
I accept moore has his faith, and he expressed it, frankly in a mild mannered way, withh no sense of trying to force it on his listeners.
However, some of you on here are attempting to force your opposite beliefs on him, and the rest of us with incessant posting and slagging.
What ever happened to each to his own, especially in the case of relgious beliefs?
Back off , mind your own, and remember individual freedom of choice, belongs to all of us, including darren moore.

That should be a red for Bissouma, IMO.

Wouldn't be surprised if Tottingham try to prise Franck away from Brentford this summer.
