VAR isn’t the problem it’s the clowns using it, in fairness to Howard Webb he knows he’s lumbered with a bunch of idiots and is taking action pretty sure it was a case with Lee Mason you need to probably give this up now.
Mike Dean looks like he’ll never be used again too.
Literally only 2/3 officials who are any good Anthony Taylor and Paul Tierney. Oliver is good when referring everyone else but turns into a clown when we have him.
VAR very much is the problem. Ruined the game. In return for it being ruined we were meant to get perfect decisions. Guess what? There are humans involved so we don't.

You cant watch that video and think it's simply incompetence. That's too many mistakes for a referee and VAR to get so obviously wrong. It becomes very difficult to to think anything other than an agenda is at work to get that much so wrong.

As I’ve said the mantra in which they operate is wrong which creates such blurred lines.

So who is in on this conspiracy?

Mitoma one (the pen) is stonewall. There’s really no grey areas there. The handball disallowed goal I can’t remember the rules as there’s so many different ones. Clearly hits him on the PL badge. Is any arm disallowed for a forward and the T-shirt line defenders? Even so the official gives it so high threshold to overturn so you might let that go.

However on the other disallowed goal I’m not even sure it hits his arm. Main contact is off his hip and it might brush his arm. You can’t disallow the first by favouring the on field decision (if the top of the arm is legal of course) and then forensically study this one and disallow it.

Dunk penalty I will let go, clear pull but a lot of these don’t get given although if they start punishing these things then it stops it making their Job easier. But they aren’t that clever.

I know I’m biased as I hate VAR, but it seems to currently have no purpose. I genuinely don’t understand how a professional referee can watch repeated video footage of some of these incidents and still make the wrong decision.

I look at var as being made up of 3 things. People, process and technology. I'd argue it's the people and process which make var so shit.

Atwell waves off the penalty on the pitch. The idiot operating the VAR inexplicably goes with this decision.

I'm bored with people saying VAR is the problem.

Binning it would be monumentally stupid as you're giving incompetent people even more power with even less responsibility.

It needs better people doing better things and being completely independent. It wouldn't surprise me if that happened as soon as next season.

Seems a case of “don’t undermine me” amongst refs.
An attitude shift is definitely needed, fairness Howard Webb is being pretty honest and calling out big mistakes and looking to bin off the worse offenders.
The problem exists around “we don’t want to re-ref matches” ok then officials need to calls as if VAR isn’t there to help them ie do the job they’re paid to do.
We can all live with a 50/50 call not going our way. But seems they won’t overturn things unless the threshold is much higher.
I’m not bothered about re-reffing but just want the call to be as right as it possibly can be.

Why can't they just be normal and have conversations between the ref and the VAR whilst both looking at a screen (the way they do in rugby), rather than all this "I can't be seen to be overruling him" weird second-guessing nonsense.

Guehi seemed okay once upon a time but he’s looking massively out of his depth atm.

Andy Hinchcliffe it’s going to be a tight call, its clearly onside

I'm not sure he has ever kicked on from his good spell at Swansea to be honest. I thought he looked very promising but nowadays not so much, no way he should be getting in the England squad ahead of players like Tomori.

That booking for Ward then is fucking pathetic, some aspects of football now are just awful.

Leeds’ left side is a crime.

Palace winning 3-1 out of nowhere. Given that we were going to drop a place no matter what the result was in this game, it's tricky to know the desired outcome. Keeping Leeds amongst it seems like a good thing though.
