Another VAR special in spurs v Brighton game not overturning what’s a blatant penalty for a foul on mitoma

Indeed! Brighton have been handed the rough end of a multitude of decisions there. Not only Wolves that cop it.

Was typing as the shirt pull wasn’t given either absolutely shocking

They didn’t even have time to show the handball Spurs got away with for showing all the ones that Brighton didn’t!! That game alone could be a chapter in Julen’s book he’s writing ;)

Atwell is equally incompetent for not giving them on field then completely changes the mind set of the VAR official. Having said that if you look at those two calls they’re so wrong it beggars belief

Agreed, Twatwell was stood in a good position for the Mitoma penalty and did nothing.

Somebody said it on here, the officials aren't making a call thinking VAR will pick it up but the VAR aren't doing anything assuming the ref has seen it and played on.

It's industrial incompetence.

We had better referees for qualifying games against Bohemians and Pyunik than nearly every referee in the 'best league in the world'

2 clear penalties for Brighton, bad enough that the ref missed both but for VAR to not overturn the decisions is criminal. I was an advocate for VAR but its completely pointless in its present state, might as well bin it.
Just watched this on motd. Disgraceful really, can see why people claim corruption

That's the thing. This league attracts the best players, managers, and coaches in the world, but we're lumbered with the same terrible referees.

Speaking of which, I was surprised there wasn't a VAR check on Cucurella's challenge on Nunes.

2 feet, jumped, studs up.
That’s the randomness - we are told about the only checking clear and obvious errors but then they just spent ages looking at how to give a penalty in the Brentford game while purposely not looking at a clear and obvious penalty for Brighton

Yep that’s what happened at Newcastle to us, things that need to change.
Firstly tell officials to referee the game as if VAR doesn’t exist.
Secondly do away with clear and obvious and change it to making the right call.

You missed "and then have VAR not exist"...
VAR isn’t the problem it’s the clowns using it, in fairness to Howard Webb he knows he’s lumbered with a bunch of idiots and is taking action pretty sure it was a case with Lee Mason you need to probably give this up now.
Mike Dean looks like he’ll never be used again too.
Literally only 2/3 officials who are any good Anthony Taylor and Paul Tierney. Oliver is good when referring everyone else but turns into a clown when we have him.

No surprises the PGMOL have already admitted error yesterday and will have to apologise to BHA again

Watching the highlights of Spurs Brighton is the sort of thing which pushes me into tin foil hat territory. Massive game for Brighton which puts them in pole position to leapfrog Spurs in the race for Europe and you see multiple questionable decisions that lead to them being denied the win.

I really hope Brighton get Europe. Spurs will treat Europa League/Conference as flippantly as they always do and bomb out to some weak team, annoys me how they never take it seriously. For Brighton it would actually matter to them and their fans and could be the opportunity to make great memories like we did in 19/20.
