I played on that plastic pitch in the 80s in kids football. The ground is so fucking shit its beyond belief. 1990 Ricky Hill came to my brothers kids team presentation night. Lovely bloke.
Me too! Conceded a headed goal to a tennis ball bounce!

Only time I’ve been on it was legging it across it that night of the Millwall riot in ‘85. I used to go to night school in Watford and a guy I went with was a big Luton fan who convinced me bunking off to go to the match instead would be a good idea. Lots of people could see what was going to happen and left at half time but we were young and naive. Fucking shat ourselves when it went off at the end and just relived to get out alive.

Funnily enough it was the former keeper Milija Aleksic that came and did a presentation evening for us, at the time when he’d left Luton to go to Spurs and was competing there with Mark Kendall. Aleksic and Kendal both gone now, 61 and 49. Both so young. All seems like yesterday but a long time ago now.

I remember watching Milija (born in Newcastle-u-Lyme) playing in goal for Stafford Rangers. He kept for Rangers when they won the FA Trophy at Wembley in '72.

I went to see Wolves at Kenilworth Road in March '77 when our 16 match unbeaten run was ended with goals from Husband and Fuccillo.

Bloody hell, Lil Fuccillo, triggering some memories now.

I played with him for the Cambridge vets a good few years ago. He’d just started working for Newcastle (can’t remember doing what precisely) but he’d just been appointed by Dennis Wise and had a flash black Mercedes courtesy of them, thank you very much Den.

Thing is, he was a hell of a player. I was never much cop but could run and run so played as an over-lapping fullback, which was pretty unheard of in vets football. Half the time you couldn’t be arsed to make the run because you knew you’d never get the pass, but with Lil he put it right in the sweet spot every time so you got on your bike the moment he got the ball. Jesus Christ I’d never been fitter.

Played with quite a few that had been semi-pro/on the books of etc etc, but Lil was the man. Good memories.

I'm not an Everton fan, but dropping the air raid sirens and playing Imagine after z-cars was nice to hear.

This has got to be the 6th time this season a game has been stopped because of a medical issue in the crowd

There has always been incidents of this sort, it has only been since the quick actions that saved Christian Erikssen that games seem to be stopped for spectator incidents too now. If it helps save lives then that's fine but I think that is maybe why we' seem to be seeing more of it, its the change in response which is highlighting it

It's not something that used to happen, I've been to many games down the years (we all have) where fans have fallen ill during the game, and the game has never stopped ,they've simply been attended to in their seats/stands and you get plenty of rubber neckers, but the game would always go on.

It's a new phenomenon to stop the game, and it leads to Covid vaccine conspiracists believing that it's all down to the vaccines.

Edit: Sorry Lupo, replied before reading your post.

Watching MOTD and seeing Chelsea get 4. All goals we simply will never score.

First goal WB beating a man and getting a shot away. We can’t do that.

Second goal striker peeling onto the FB and a good header at the back post. No reason we can’t do this but Raul doesn’t move and we don’t cross it.

Third early cross accross the face where two players attack the 6 yard box and get a tap in. Rarely/never hit the Early cross and there’s certainly no one attacking the 6 yard box. Literally only needs to hit you and it goes in or possibly an OG.

Fourth another simple early cross with the defenders facing the wrong way making a mistake. We don’t put the ball accross the face as I said and even if we did they’d all be standing on the edge of the area and the defence could just clear it even if they did make a mistake.

That was like Arsenal at their peak. Majestic goal.

Arsenal in red shorts is all kinds of wrong, especially as there's no reason for it whatsoever.

I totally agree. White shorts are a better contrast FFS. They look like Middlesbrough

Based on what I've seen in our last three games and the first 30 minutes of this, it's likely the three points will be heading to Hertfordshire Thursday night.

However Arsenal back in front.
