England were definitely second best, but I thought the scoreline was a little harsh on them.

You did make it sound a bit like there were no positives to take from it.
Better sides than that England side have walked away from tournaments with even less to show for it.

There are positives but my point is they'll be people who will laud getting to a semi final like it's an achievement.
Obviously you have to look at the quality of the side imo England were right up there to win this tournament so a SF exit is a failure.
If the men's side reached the SF next summer I'd see that as good tournament because I think the men's side are way behind some of the better sides in the world.
Even if they did tho I wouldn't want them cheered by thousands on there arrival home like they were in 1990 or the nostalgia that some look back on Euro 96.
