Live Match Discussion 2017/18

England were definitely second best, but I thought the scoreline was a little harsh on them.

That's the worst I have seen them play for several years. They were truly awful. Created nothing, poor technique, poor passing, poor defending. They know it. They will not be pleased with that one bit. Well done to the dutch though. Should be a cracking final. At least we beat France. We will have to take that as our final like we did at Liverpool in the cup last year!

Some might think I'm being harsh by saying it's a failure, I just don't like it when people applaud going out in semi finals and come out with comments like it was a brave effort.
It was no disaster but they should look at what went wrong and put it right next time.

You did make it sound a bit like there were no positives to take from it.

Better sides than that England side have walked away from tournaments with even less to show for it.

I think there are some positives, but nothing we didn't know. We are 5th in the world and did not play like that against the Netherlands. Four or five players were really off their game last night . That and the dutch were technically and tactically better on the night. When the powers that be do a wash up one thing they will have to address is the hoofball to little Kirby. Its ridiculous. She is a quick muscular mouse not a target woman. The midfield area did for England in many ways last night. Holland won it their primarily. I can't help thinking Lucy Bronze is a bit wasted at right back. She is far better and far stronger with more skill than that. Its like playing Frank Lampard at right back. He could do it but why would you. She has so much potential a midfield role surely beckons. Reserve keeper Chamberlain did nothing wrong but didn't inspire confidence. The defence didn't seem to completely trust her. Several times the ball was must hoofed rather than allowed to run through giving possession back to the opposition. That got worse after the soft second goal. Dutch keeper showed how to do it. Come for the ball, collect or punch. The defence had complete confidence in her

There are positives but my point is they'll be people who will laud getting to a semi final like it's an achievement.
Obviously you have to look at the quality of the side imo England were right up there to win this tournament so a SF exit is a failure.
If the men's side reached the SF next summer I'd see that as good tournament because I think the men's side are way behind some of the better sides in the world.
Even if they did tho I wouldn't want them cheered by thousands on there arrival home like they were in 1990 or the nostalgia that some look back on Euro 96.

I think that yesterday's game was soooooooo disappointing as they are wayyyyyy better than how the played both individually and collectively. I hate to say it but that's as close to a choke as I have seen in football. If they had played OK and lost so be it. That's what happened in 90 and 96. But there are no positives from that game for the ladies, only learning points.

will be interesting to watch sunderland-derby tonight..derby should win but maybe Darron Gibson's outburst at some players could help them to gel..doubt it though

Appalling defending by Galloway and Derby lead

I'm not sure I've seen Doherty show someone inside like that for a couple of years..awful.

Definitely a Doc impression.

Jason Steele is awful as well, so glad we didn't sign him

Sunderland not looking as rubbish as I thought they would

From the BBC feed :-

And it really is an excellent low save. Wallace is playing a blinder. O'Brien should have a couple of goals.

Sunderland surely need more in CM than they've got here. Cattermole and Ndong is as bad for creativity as our midfields of the last two years.

Butterfield like a puppet who's had his strings cut. Odd.

Not sure that was a pen, none of the Sunderland players even appealed
