Good save Begovic. Double credit as he must have been close to falling asleep.

Decent shot by Janmaat, but that's the only way they are going to get anything.

They have been clueless otherwise

I reckon Stoke are hindered by the heavy rain.

Arnautovic almost 2-0

What we had here about 90 minutes ago arrived in Stoke just in time for the warm up. It was a touch inclement for a while.

It cannot help the Newcastle players when the travelling fans seem so very concerned about a change of manager. The fans should be getting behind their team.

When you make Collocini club captain, then compound it by making a brainless oaf like Tiote vice-captain, says it all as far as I'm concerned. Wonder what Pardew's excuse will be tonight?

Not the most enervating 45 mins I have spent recently.

Oh & Charlie Adam - stop with the facial expressions whenever you are fouled that would make any one think your left leg's been taken off at the knee, its very annoying. Thank you!

I think it's gotten to the point where the fans can't block it out.

I don't really think we can criticise the toon army for support levels. A fantastic set of fans, who are rightly seriously peeved at their team and management at the moment.

Ashley's still awake...

Cisse on for Riviere.

No idea why he's so highly rated by some. Fucking tragic footballer.

He looked ok in the same midfield as Ki last season, Newcastle don't have anyone in that class though, Sissoko and Tiote are trading hugely off reputation, they offer nothing.

Stoke should have this game sewn up by now.

I suppose it is fair to say that Newcastle have not been at their best tonight, but at only one down they are still in the game.

The fact they are may well say more about Stoke than it does about their own abilities.

Pardew's tactics are terrible. Lone striker horribly isolated and midfield providing nothing? Swap the striker at half time and leave everything else the same. And play long ball against Stoke's centre halves.
