That's all to do with the manager, O'Neill like Trap is living in the past and hasn't moved with the times. Like Alan said even Scotland are looking to play good football under Strachan. This Ireland starting 11 is more than capable of playing some excellent and neat football with the likes of McCarthy, Hoolahan and McGeady etc.

We have made very little progress under O'Neill and have no pattern of play at all, a bit of endevour and pressure got us a point last night which I suppose we deserved, but its looking already as if the automatic qualification is beyond us, will have to win in Poland and at home to Scotland along with getting something out of Germany at home and even getting third place is looking dodgy.

Decent game, 1-1 at half time. I only turned on at 1-0 to Germany, but from then England were very good! Fast tempo to their passing, impressed by Ings, Hughes, Garbutt and Jenkinson. Lingard with a good finish too.

I suppose he doesn't want to use Carrick there,but you could have easily put Delph/Henderson there and played Barkley.

Mason's in the squad but I think he picked up a knock at some point.

Huddlestone's been shit this season unfortunately.

Hoddle wittering on about playing Carrick to "give him experience in that role", he's nearly 34 Glenn, never plays anywhere but that position, he's been at Man Utd for nearly a decade and has played in three Champions League finals. Nothing he ever says stands up to any scrutiny.

I think he was referring to the midfield 3 more than any of the others. Still fucking infuriating that he is so ignorant.

The halfwit has always been the same. He seemed to be convinced in Euro 2008 that as England weren't playing the only two players the viewers would ever have heard of were Ronaldo and Colin Kazim-Richards.

If you're (him, not you) gonna make a statement like that you ought to clearly qualify it. Because referring to Parolo, Soriano, and Valdifiori, he's not exactly wrong in that case.

For me he's still wrong, i know there will be quite a few who haven't heard of them but it was like he didn't expect anyone to know who they are because they play for Lazio, Sampdoria and Empoli.

He shouldn't patronise the viewer in any case, if he feels there will be a gap in our knowledge then it is he who should seek to educate us, however I doubt he knows anything about this team at all. He's been phoning it in for at least a decade.
