Eddie Hughes the MP from Walsall North who loses his seat at the next election because of boundary changes has already been selected to stand for the Conservatives.

They went to the high court (but failed) to stop a Labour leaflet suggesting that Hughes would stand at the general election giving Cooper a pay out for stepping aside. Hughes ended up having to make a statement that he’d look elsewhere for a seat should Cooper win the by election.
