I incorrectly thought that this meant that the line would continue but be a cheaper version and at least give additional capacity .
I don’t know about spades in the ground but there’s bridge structures in place from by the m6, the m42, the a38 In Lichfield and are these going to be left as relics to the incompetence of this conservative government?
He’s going to say tomorrow that our political system is too focussed on short term advantage not long term success. So he’s scrapping a long term project for a more quickly deliverable short term, lower cost alternatives. He’ll also claim to be the change candidate at the next election.
