Lambert

He comes across as a very sensible guy. Loyal to the players he wants, pragmatic about the rest. I love it that he's giving the youngsters' a chance.

Agreed Jamwolf. The morale of the team seems to have greatly improved recently.
It is clear Lambert is taking a good grip of things and deserves all our support.
His target for this season is to finish with the sort of form likely to get us promoted next time around.

Lambert took over when we were 18th in the championship, and that is where we are now. Far from being the messiah some say he is, I would question whether he has actually improved things.

The general consensus seems to be that we are playing better football and seem a better team than before he came in, the teams around us have started picking up points so the table hasn't really reflected our upturn in form. Also it's great that he's given our youth players a chance, a shame Ronan got injured straight away though

We're playing much better football, he's playing players in the right positions, he's given several academy players their debuts.

So yeah - we've improved. But I don't think anyone has called him a messiah.

Pre-Lambert: 16 games, 4 wins, 19 goals scored, three clean sheets, 3 points above the relegation zone, 1.06 PPG

Lambert era: 11 games, 4 wins, 15 goals scored, four clean sheets, 7 points above the relegation zone, 1.36 PPG, plus our best cup result since 2003

Seems fairly conclusive to me...

Yeah I don't why I bit TBH.

Behave Paddy, surely I am entitled to my opinion that I am not convinced by Lambert. As many have said there is not a lot of quality in this division, and I find it so disappointing to see us so low in the table. I just hope that next season we make a concerted effort to gain promotion, but my opinion is that it will not happen under Lambert.

You questioned if things had improved *at all* under him though, and under pretty much every reasonable measure they have...

We're 18th now which doesn't look great but it's largely irrelevant (whether we end up finishing 10th or 18th doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things as we all know the season is as good as dead; you'd like to be as high as possible of course, but it's not the be all and end all like it is in the PL where each place earns you a ton more dough) - it's more important that we have a decent buffer between us and the bottom three now which we didn't have before he came in. We were on a run of 2 points from 7 games, I think he has improved us from there.

Better football, more goals, more clean sheets, a better win ratio, a better points per game ratio, progress in the cup...not sure what it is if it isn't improvement.

Has something happened on a sub forum which I haven't paid attention to? Frank's a completely different character these days. It's almost like Manhattan has taken control of his account. Weren't they friends?

Frank. You are fishing. Again. Don't tell me to behave.

All I am saying is that I am not convinced that Lambert is the man to take us forward. Lets us look at this in twelve months, and if Wolves are challenging for promotion I will happily accept that I am wrong.

Will he get us promoted with this squad? Probably not, there are too many areas where we're glaringly short of consistent quality. But then I have no idea who we're going to sign over the next seven and a bit months to fix those issues. I think Weimann is a decent start.

Is it fair enough to have concerns about whether he can ultimately take us up, full stop? Of course, he's only ever promoted one team from this level. He hasn't immediately come in and propelled us to promotion style form. He isn't someone like a McCarthy, Bruce, Allardyce or Warnock who at various stages proved that if you gave them the budget, they'd probably do the business, whatever you thought about their style or them personally. He could emulate his Norwich work, he could end up being an average Championship manager and that was all just a perfect storm down in East Anglia, it's happened with many others before (Dowie, Brown, Megson, Jewell, Coyle, Holloway etc etc). Worth remembering though that your own choice in Rowett - as much as I rate him - has 0 promotions from this division, not even a playoff finish...

However - when you're questioning whether he has improved us then it is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of facts. He has improved us, the evidence is there, I've posted it on the last page. You are of course entitled to your own opinion, you (or indeed anyone) aren't entitled to your own facts.

Bang go your chances of working in the White House press office and offering "alternative facts"

I suspect there may have been a personality clash with the boss, so best off out of it.

I openly admitted that Lambert was not my first choice as manager, but credit where it's due, he got it spot on today.

I was an early critic of Lambert but the past few games I have been completely on board with him and am liking how he is shaping the side and to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield is a huge result. I have to admit I am pretty excited about a Lambert future

I was less than convinced at the appointment to be fair. Happy. No, bloody delighted to be eating humble pie.
