Keir Starmer at it again..

Yeah I'm in the same boat as EP, my feed is full of it. The WFP and a train driver pay rise in the same week was simply brain dead. The most devilishly clever political strategist in the country couldn't have written a better start from an opposition point of view. It's message that the tories have barely had to push, so easily has the public picked up and ran with it. Both policies that I broadly agree with save for some tinkering around the edges, but fuck me you couldn't have imagined a more damaging start, and it's absolutely amateur.

Extremely short memories, Cameron and Osborne’s austerity and Nick Clegg pissing all over lifelong Liberal supporters for his little bit of glory.

These pay disputes being settled won’t be remembered in 18-24 months. Get this sort of stuff out of the way early, take the flack and then there will be bigger and better issues to deal with in the future.

Most of the general public won’t remember.

Pensioners winter fuel payments won’t quite get the same leeway (even if I agree with the principle of it being means tested) but the same again, 4.5 years until the next election is a lot of water to pass under the bridge before then.

It doesn't matter, especially the RWP whinging like fuck. He has a majority that is huge. He can ride that out.

No chance, the one thing they can't afford is a u turn this early, there may be some mitigation in the budget, but that'll be it

But a Treasury source said: “The chancellor has said there will be difficult decisions across tax, welfare and spending at the budget. Nothing announced today changes that.”

Very poor interview by SKS this morning. He needs to nip this nonsense about freebies and also shit questions much better than he is.

GMB producers are clearly locked on to the pension credit thing but he's not dealing with it very well.

I've no idea why the press are obsessed with this, every party since I can remember has took donations and perks since Thatcher been supplied with Handbags.

We've had villas, holidays, travel, sports admissions, concerts etc, by all parties, now they hone in on Starmer?

He's not broke any rules, however they should bring in laws to stop the whole thing, as it does look shady at times.

The media are feeding the mouth frothers. Limited ability producers think that by dropping to gutter levels they get more viewers.

Sadly most 'news' programmes are going down this route. It's really poor journalism and unsurprisingly it's come from America and it isn't going away.

The personal stuff is only really an issue because of how much they criticised the Tories for doing similar stuff. In that regard, they have set themselves up for criticism if they aren't squeaky clean.

That said, the personal stuff doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as who the Labour Party are taking donations from, the big corporations, the hedge funds etc who are buying their way to influencing policy making decisions. That is egregious and totally fucking shit, and they deserve every shitstorm they get for that.

I agree, the problem isn't nust the donations it is the fact that they called it out so often in the past only to seemingly not think when it came to their own actions.

Someone, somewhere shouldnhave had the political nous to think about how this would play out and suggest any donations were politely declined unless there were mitigating circumstances.

Starmer being told he can't sit in the stands at Arsenal for security reasons is a legitimate reason for him to go to corporate. Multi millionaires handing over money for clothes is a different matter. Rich people giving their money can be purely philanthropic, but when you give it to politicians it doesn't matter what the motive is, perception rules.

Can’t find the link now but the Rachel Reeves Sky News interview where she was defending the gifts and the actions of their MP’s on the basis “no rules have been broken” was excruciating.

I know she is implementing whatever Starmer wants, but Rachel Reeves is a free hit for the opposition and an absolute disaster for the government. She is truly fucking awful. Neoliberal economic shill.

When your voting to impoverish pensioners at 9 but you've got Spurs away at 3.
