Jeremy Corbyn

Friend of mine who joined as a supporter to vote in the leadership election last year is unhappy/confused regarding how he can vote again this year. He registered before January, so I'm assuming he'll need to pay his £25?

I believe so LJ with only a small window of time to do so. That is how the BBC explained it last night.

That was my thinking too. Think it is a 48 hour window to pay/register.

Angela Eagle drops out of the Leadership race

What a farce.

It is to make it 1 v 1 rather than spilt the anti-Corbyn vote. Eagle & Smith had an agreement that the one with the least amount of MP support would drop out and back the other.

All quite sad really, Corbyn will piss the leadership election, the Labour Party will split in two and the Country will be a one party state for years to come.

Eagle would have been an utter disaster.

I can only see this as the outcome.

Or, after Corbyn wipes the floor with Smith, the CLP drags all the backstabbers in and replaces them with Labour members who think about the people who elect them and not themselves...

I respect your stance but the post 2014 labour members will never be enough to elect a Govenment.

If Corbyn wins, as I've said before, he needs to kick ass and get the PLP in line. If they won't support the leader after this democratic process then he needs to withdraw the whip, and the constituent party members will have to deselect them.

I guess the pre-2014 Labour members can always look back on the resounding successes of 2015 and 2010 to keep them warm at night. The Labour Party needs to reinvent itself and it won't do that inside 12 months. Labour is not going to win in 2020 whoever is leader because of the legacy left by the very people who no claim they don't have confidence in Corbyn. These people have shown twice now that they are unelectable...and not only that they are responsible for losing ground in what should be Labour strongholds of Wales and Scotland.

It is pure fantasy to think that Corbyn is the reason Labour won't win an election in 2020, the reasons for that sad fact are historical not current. If the PLP could get their heads around the long game they would see that the next generation of activists is being born and they are willing to shove them out for their own short term job security.

Say what you want about Piers Morgan and that breakfast show but he took Owen Smith apart this morning.
"No one had heard of you, not even in your own house before all this"

Mandatory reselection a strong possibility following the boundary review in 2018.

Whilst I would never ask for anyone to be sacked, I look forward to Rhondda selecting someone who isn't Chris Bryant.
