Jeremy Corbyn

Why is it nonsense?

Mrs May supported the armed forces.

Mr Corbyn supported a pop festival.

Kindly tell me on which point I am talking nonsense.

Ah, tough choice. Weapons, destruction and the profiteering and falsehood behind it all or having fun, meeting people and doing nice things.

Armed Forces Day is an American thing. We have Remembrance Day where we remember the fallen and the living service men and women. Armed Forces Day isn't really a "thing" over here...

It was "invented" by Labour under Gordon Brown and if you were cynical you might think it was to try and deflect attention away from that administration's rather unpopular excursions abroad.

New Labour? Defect attention from their corruption? Say it ain't so!

Cheers!

Well that is a big pile of bollocks isn't it

It's that kind of bollocks that plays right into the hands of real racists as it gives them the opportunity to provide an example for their 'it's not racism it's political correctness gone mad' defence.

It's the kind of bollocks of people seeing exactly what they want to see !

I kind of agree with her, tbh. I've never liked the imagery and colours on the flag. Always thought it looked a bit 'culty'.

They are neither, they are just chains, indicative of a particular industry prevalent in the region. Any other connotation is provided by the individual. The tricolour depicts the glass industry (a cone) and the colours are based on the comments of an American industrialist who described the area as black by day, red by night.

Ultimately, a flag is what you want it to be and if you want it to be a symbol of oppression then there are plenty of national flags that are probably more appropriate to refer to.

I was part of a small group of people who decided to use this flag as a banner under which people of all colours, creeds and communities could come together. Where I would agree with Ms Smith is that there is an opportunity to include some educational recognition of the darker elements of our past but when we extended that invitation a.few years ago to the guy who made similar comments he wasn't interested. I shall be extending the same invitation to Ms Smith...i have my doubts as to whether she will be interested either.

I'm at his rally right now. He's enjoying himself!

But the chain making in this area was predominantly ship anchor chains

Yep...Watched a documentary about ships last year and they visited a chain maker, still working to traditional standards, in the Black Country and spoke about how the area made the most sort after chains by the shipbuilding companies
