January Transfer Window, 25/26 Season

I think McNeil would be good for us as a LWB

Philips would be a good rotation option for midfield, I think we have bigger fish to fry though in the front-line

Given the state of our squad and setting aside my actual preferences, I dont think we could turn down either of them. A bit of a risk with Phillips as he's hardly played for ages.

Yeah issue with Phillips is how long would it take to get any sort of true match fitness and then form going. He played 214 league games for Leeds from 2014/15 to 21/22 and has then played 43 league games since. I can't see the appearance break downs but it's 1240minutes total in 24/25 (66 minutes per game) and then nearly half that the season before during his games at City then loan to West Ham. So data wise it's a massive risk if you have to have any sort of guarantee triggers.

I mean it's either happening now or in July, and I suspect we'll get more money in January, and it won't make a blind bit of difference to our survival prospects. It'll look cheap in a couple of years, I still think he's got top-tier potential, but he's not performed consistently well for about a year now.

Unless there's a miracle between now and the end of December which puts us within a chance of staying up, the club should sell him in January to maximise the asset. He'll go on the cheap in July otherwise.

Feels like it isn’t a coincidence that this rumour starts up and then we get linked with Kalvin Philips.

I understand why people are advocating selling Gomes (and maybe Andre) in January to maximise profit but fucking hell it feels like all the family silver will be gone then.
The problem is if they stay the silver will get more tarnished and become worth less by the summer. Sadly it makes sense to try and sell in January.

I will take absolutely any footballer with a pulse, in January.

And there’s not one existing player that I’d be bothered to see leave, either.

And, if Edwards is targeting some sort of Championship rebuild - Philips and McNeil would be the last thing we’d need, I imagine.
