January 2022 Transfer Thread

Oh fucking behave. You talked shite and I called you out.
Stop being abusive . It’s unbecoming. You may be happy with the business we have done in the last three windows where we have effectively at best stood still at worst gone backwards but I am not , and the thought of Coady and Neves going on deadline is quite worrying, even if it’s only rumours. I hope your confidence that we lose no more is not misplaced.

You seem to have a bout of Cyberchondria…

Let's see how the day pans out, but I'm expecting nothing. And whilst I appreciate there are a few factors in play that we weren't aware of at the beginning of the window (such as Toti stepping up & Fabio actually looking like a reasonable option off the bench) I'd still describe this window as "disappointing" if we don't add another midfielder to the mix.

It's clear Bruno wanted additions and until someone had a word in his ear to pipe down, he was pretty vocal about it. But it actually looks like he'll be tasked with completing the remainder of the season with the same numbers - which you have to say is a failing on Fosun/Jeff's part. The bloke shouldn't be expected to work wonders; he should be backed.

Central midfield aside, I'm reasonably comfortable with the other areas of the squad. Losing Adama obviously weakens the matchday squad and, whatever people say, over the last month or so he has been a good option for us to swing games in our favour on about the hour mark. We've lost that now and both Neto & Chiquinho will take time to bed in/get up to speed.

Moutinho & Neves are extremely durable footballers, but again, we shouldn't be relying on Donk to be the only other option - but how many windows have we been saying this?

I can’t say I really expected anything this month. Chiquinho was a surprise, didn’t expect someone who’d be in the first team squad coming in.

of course, it’s pretty crazy that we still haven’t signed a midfielder of a different profile to Moutinho and neves which we’ve needed for so long.

We obviously know that Sellars will pipe up I. A day or so with "January is never a good month for strategic strengthening and it was never going to be a busy month for us given the quality in the group".

This is now the 6th window in succession where we're no stronger at the end of it than we were at the start.

There's very little dissent about it at the moment, but that will change with the publication of the accounts in a month or so's time. I think summer '22 is going to be a crucial window for Fosun's standing amongst the fans. I think they're largely supported at the moment by the morons who don't understand FFP, and/or compare everything to when we were in league one. That won't last though

They will get a shock with Vinny's price rises and no decent signings in the summer. Only thing which might change that is qualifying for Europe. That season ticket waiting list has less structure than a Boris Johnson principle.

My expectations for incomings were zero, so with Chiquinho they have been wildly exceeded.

Sky saying we are trying to sign Aaron Ramsey - Can't see that happening at all.
We'll pretend to sign him without making a genuinely serious attempt, just so we can say "we tried but it's a difficult window to get signings over the line" bollocks that we've been trotting out for 2 years now. The mere pretence of trying to sign someone will be enough to keep some fans impatience with the club in check.

If it were on pay basis in our favour I'd love that (and if he were fit). Doesn't really solve our ageing midfielder issue tho

That's the sort of signing that has Newcastle written all over it I'd have thought.

Rangers in for him apparently.

By the sounds of it Juve will be paying a huge chunk of his ridiculous wages if he goes out on loan

Sky will also be the tv version of click bait today.

Any rumour, no matter where from will be reported on so they can fill time and give their reporters at grounds something to talk about during their 14 hour shift

I'd imagine wherever he goes will be a 6 month loan to begin with. He then gets to see his market worth in the Summer after he'd hope half a season of playing regular football. To accommodate him we'd need to probably play 352, if we were doing that I'd rather bring MGW back than sign Ramsey

Ramsey not Wolves bound

There have been rumours of a Wolves move for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
Ramsey has been frozen out in Italy and is open to returning to the Premier League.
But I have been told Wolves are not one of the clubs expressing an interest.

We’re getting away with it at the moment but as soon as Neves goes - which is as soon as someone offers 50m plus imo - things will start to unravel. We can’t keep refusing to spend money improve the team and keep finishing mid table.

Maybe if we start badly and find ourselves in trouble in January one season, that’s the time when Fosun will actually put their hand in their pocket to try and keep us up.
