January 2021 Transfer Window

What about Huntelaar? 😉

Spiers linking us with Origi.

It's a very strong no from me Clive.

"no contact made at this stage. Wolves are looking at loans, loans to buy or perhaps even a permanent deal (and players of varying experience) as they look for goals. The net is cast wide."

All angles covered there

The bit about taking someone keen to play on loan for 6 months makes a lot of sense.

I don't think Belgium will be giving him a call any time soon, he last scored for them in 2014.

I'd take Origi on loan a minute before the window closes if it were him or nobody -assuming Raul is done or as good as done for the season. He wouldn't be my starting point though, or particularly close to it

One of my best mates is a Liverpool fan and here’s his assessment:

Liverpool fans love him and hold him in high esteem due to CL final, Barcelona goal, Everton goals, and some other key moments. But for the last season and a half he’s not been good enough when he’s got a crack at the whip. He’s got a good finish, and is fast when he’s in full sprint, but he’s flat footed and often doesn’t seem “ready” or able to anticipate anything (which seems weird considering that goal from Trent’s corner against Barca required being on his toes). He doesn’t press very well or effectively so he’s mostly useless in our first 11, and it’s why if he does play, Klopp tends to play him on the left rather than through the middle (as the central striker leads our press and is why Firmino has been practically undroppable for so long).

But there’s no reason to think that given the right team and set of circumstances he couldn’t thrive. But equally he could be an absolute flop.

Honestly, I think you could do better

He's seriously not a very good footballer. He's got all the bad bits of Romelu Lukaku's game and none of the good bits.

His overall record is appalling, he's not even particularly young any more and he wouldn't be cheap. I don't see us going down this road btw, just passing on the news.

I wouldn't mind Origi but not as a long term option and I certainly wouldn't be paying the £20M quoted in the Athletic article.

He'd be a better option than Silva for the next few months.

That’s like choosing a kick to the bollocks or a punch to the temple. Why not choose something unlikely to inflict pain entirely.

Why the hate for Rondon? No one has seen him play for 18 months and 18 months ago he was playing very well with a record on a par with Rauls.

Haven't checked but was his record really as good as Raúl's? I wouldn't rate him as anywhere close to Raúl personally, even before 2 seasons playing what's basically amateur football in China.

11 goals in 32 games at an ultra defensive Newcastle in the PL, 12 in 33 in total

Roughly 1 in 4 for the shit

He was on £70k a week at Newcastle.

He's on £250k a week in China!

I think I'll pass for someone who's about as mobile as my Christmas tree, ta.
