January 2020 transfer window

Getting the bench up to scratch so that the drop off is not so apparant if we need changes will be helpful (& less expensive given the prices demanded in th Jan window for anything else).

Against Soton the bench consisted of Ruddy + 6 fairly untried youngsters (we did have a couple of senior injuries & not writing them off, but there is a gap)

Assuming Podence starts:

Ruddy
Kilman
Dendoncker
MGW
Neto
Jota
Oliveira

That's pretty decent compared to where we were a few weeks ago. Another CM would be nice too, but you assume MGW will be trying to break into that role from now on in place of Moutinho as and when needed.

Potential upgrades for the summer should be CM, CB and RWB. We could then afford to send MGW out on loan for a season a la Mount at Derby.

Wolves have reportedly shown interest in Flamengo defender, Pablo Mari.

The 26-year-old left Manchester City to join Brazilian side Flamengo in July. [source: Hashtag RN]

I know the club has been reluctant to send MGW out on loan, but surely it's becoming essential for him? As you say, like Mount and Wilson last season. I always thought one of the most sensible things Kenny Jackett talked about was the importance of playing games. How some 23/24 year old had played 150-200 games and how some had played 20-30. MGW has had nine starts (I think) and he surely now needs a season where he starts around 35 games and is seen as a key part of someone's team. He's 20 in a couple of days, so he needs to be starting games and he's not going to do that at Wolves either this season or next

It's not essential for him at all. If Nuno doesnt think he is progressing he will shake his hand and wish him all the best for the future. Right now he is a 19 year squad member.

Nuno knows what he can do and whether or not he can cope, if he didnt he would have gone out on loan around 2 years ago.

Also, despite the fact I like KJ I think I will take how to deal with players from the NES playbook every day of the week.

We'd need to carefully place MGW if he went out on loan, if he went to the wrong place, stylistically or in terms of minutes it could really screw him up.

I think that's why we haven't risked that tbh.

Either the transfer window has sent me mad or I've caught the wife's flu. Saw someone mention Feliz Cumpleaños on Twitter just now and for an instant thought it was a potential signing I needed to Google...

Lots of reports he’s having a medical with Arsenal

Set to sign for them according to Telegraph. Sounds like we were interested though

Same with Olmo, seems like there was genuine interest from us. Leipzig is a great move for him though

LMAO, will have to see what position Happy Birthday plays in

Feliz did well for me in FM16 so that's an exciting prospect

Lots of clubs being linked to Florentino Luís on loan with a €50M option to buy.

We should be all over that. He's going to be world class.

Yes please!! Who's the other Benfica centre back that you prefer to Dias? My brain has lost this information.

Ferro looks like he could do with packing abit of muscle on.

He'd be a proper unit if he did, he's about 6'3" I think.

Doubtful, tbh. After loaning Gedson, Benfica is down to 4 playable mid fields. Fejsa should go out and that leaves Gabriel, Taraabt, Weigl and Tino.

Tino won't probably leave in this transfer window.

Neither will Ferro, Benfica might sell Jardel and that would be stretching the team too thin. There's no replacement to any of the first team centre backs atm (besides Jardel).

Some people saying Podence is flying to England this weekend - others say he's in the squad for tomorrow's game (altho' Olympiakos squad seems to be every player they have...)

Olympiakos put out the players available for selection the day before a game. Podence is on that list (he wasn't included in the last one though) so, depends on how you look at life when it comes to your reaction to that news. Naturally on Twitter, that means the sky has fallen in and L1 awaits us
