January 2020 transfer window

I think we should sign Cherno Samba... Makes as much sense as Nakhi Wells.

Scoff all you like.

BAS is not the answer, even if nor is wells.

19 days and counting.

Nahki fucking Wells, Jesus wept

Ollie Watkins is a much better shout. Plays up front and can play any of the 3 positions and is better in the air by virtue of not being a midget

And 10 m plus. Not coming to sit on a bench.

We signed sod all in 12 months that have improved our first 18 and that's a problem.

Oh, I'll scoff.

How about Aaron Wilbraham? PL experience too and has scored against a PL team this decade, which Raul hasn't.

Dont think anyone is saying BAS is the answer, just suggesting signing a player that would provide the same answer as him is daft...and scoffable.

I’m sorry, maybe I’m missing something, but why does an incoming striker have to “sit on the bench”? Why do they have to assume they’re second choice?

Raul has been great, but he’s not Lionel Messi.

How about the new guy comes in, takes the place of a forward that’s played 38 games this year and is clearly knackered, scores a couple of goals and keeps his place?

And then Raúl has to up his game to get the shirt back?

Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work?

You're entitled to your opinion.

I just think Nakhi Wells is a horrible shout

Karlan Grant is another I'd have over Wells

This is exactly as it should work but in this case don't think it will....be chuffed it does

Piatek available at milan, an upgrade to cutrone and better in the air if we are willing to take another gamble. Dont think hes too suited to the english game myself, not strong or quick enough to be a factor

Then why did you suggest him?

This topic has gone deeply weird. Darlo’s post above is probably one of the most sane contributions for a while..

Best available striker atm we have a shot at. Not yet hit his prime. People are suggesting nahki wells ffs (no offense cyber)

If we are looking for a backup, roman yaremchuk (belgian league) is rauls size with a similiar playstyle. Big, skilful ukranian not in his prime yet. Should be fairly cheap, not good enough yet to be unhappy at being a bench player in the premier league.

Only one person is suggesting him. Using that logic, Gary Madine had a run of goals for Wednesday a few years back and he's available on a free, just saying like.............

BAS is not the answer at the minute, whether or not he becomes good enough in a couple of years only time will tell.

We do need strengthening up front, wide, central midfield, and right sided WB, someone similar to Vinagre.

In terms of importance
1, Central Striker
2, Wide striker
3, Central Mid
4, Right WB

We need 1,and 2 if we dont sign both it will have bedb both it will have been a poor window, if we get both it will be a decent window.

If we get 1,2 and 3 = good window
1, 2, 3, and 4 = fantastic

Boly and MGW coming back is going to ease things immensely I think. It frees up Saiss or Donck to be back up for Joao and Ruben when needed, along with MGW sharing the workload. We'll be back to having 4 (5, really, though I imagine one of Saiss/Donck will still be in the back three) players for the 2 CM positions.

Three into two for the WB positions isn't perfect, but is also not a major concern right now. We've seen that we can rotate to be playing 2 of the 3 and giving the other a breather. Jonny/Vinagre, Doc/Jonny, Doc/Vinagre.

Then ideally another forward option so we have a choice of three from Jota/Raul/Adama/Neto/AN Other. Small squad, yep, but weren't not looking tooooo bad, and players coming back from injuries definitely helps paint a prettier picture.

Edit: Also makes me wonder how far away from returning Shabani is. When was that game he did his ACL? I'm guessing we won't see him until next season now? He came from Bayern well thought of, looked decent in the couple of U23 games I saw him in (small sample size, I know!), and I wonder if bad luck hadn't struck he'd be in Nuno's thoughts or hanging out in the match-day squad by now for that front three.
