January 2020 transfer window

Shabani is out for the season. Jordao is back fit and didn't play in the under 23's so I am guessing he was one of the players with the first team but didn't make the 18.

Three into two for the WB positions isn't perfect, but is also not a major concern right now. We've seen that we can rotate to be playing 2 of the 3 and giving the other a breather. Jonny/Vinagre, Doc/Jonny, Doc/Vinagre.

The problem with only having three is that the preferred two, Johnny and Doherty, rarely get a complete game off as our WBs cover a lot of ground and it is rare one of them is not substituted. I think Doherty in particular looks mentally tired as much as physically and that stems from playing too many games.

Im sorry but shabani and mgw arent the answer to anything. They need a massive amount of improvement before being considered squad players. We dont know when boly will be back.

Shabani cerainly isn't as he is very crocked! and no matter what you think of MGW, he IS a squad player and has been ever since Nuno came to the club.

Doc has probably played less games than most players though I think, he was injured at the start of the season.

Assuming Nuno doesn’t rate Buur, which if he doesn’t play him the FA Cup is probably the case, then I do think we need another RWB.

I view this a bit differently, I think we need an option for our right-sided forward.

In games where teams sit in (i.e. Newcastle) we can put Traore and Vinagre as wing-backs.

He started Buur against Besiktas and he was on the bench on Saturday, so he must rate him somewhat.

Not convinced. Besiktas was a free throw and we didn’t really have anyone else for Saturday. If he plays on Weds I will believe it.

We can surely do better than a bloke who presented a darts based quiz show, and a bloke off a talent show 20 odd years ago

Well, if there's any justice in the world, we won't have a repeat of the terrible "jokes" about Lemar this time round.
Oh...

Id love nothing more than to be proven wrong by mgw, but where does he play exactly? Hes not a center mid, nowhere close, he cant defend at all. Hes too small to be a striker, cant finish either. Too slow for a wide player. Hes an attacking midfielder in the shape of david silva but doesnt score and cant go past players.

Whilst this comes across a little harsh, I understand what you are saying. Nuno likes our players to be flexible and to be able to cover more than one position - but Morgan is potentially at the point now where he needs to decide exactly what kind of player he wants to be. If he wants to play in the midfield two, for example, he is miles behind Neves & Moutinho. He isn't the right kind of player to play in one of the wide forward positions - so I'm not hugely sure where he fits in at the moment. He's not good enough to warrant the entire team changing formation to fit him in either.

It will be interesting to see what Nuno's plans are for him.

Literally everything you've said here is wrong.

Agree.

I think he could be a very good option in midfield. Needs to rediscover his best form (I think the back injury was partly causing him issues to his performances) but he is a good passer from deeper positions and he could be the person we need to run from deep off the ball which we don’t really have right now

He's ok to throw on when we need a goal as the opposition will be sitting back and we can get him further forward. I wouldn't want him starting ahead of either of the central two though.

I liked the look of the Slovan centre forward when they played us. Sporar? Thoughts?

He was impressive for them but not quite sure he would make the step up.

I liked the Hungarian lad they had in midfield. The moment they took him off they went proper shit and I don't think he played at Molineux.
