They've clearly been publicly hawking him round, hoping to get some sort of bidding war going. Looks like that's failed but 2nd prize is the "we finally agreed a fee that was too good to refuse but it was too late to get any incoming deals over the line". Having re-read that it sounds awfully familiar.

Fairly confident Marshall will be with us by the end of the day. Blackburn have signed Marvin Emnes on loan (scrommit) which may free up some space for him to leave. But either way, it makes absolutely zero sense for them to hold on to a player who will be out of contract in the summer, who doesn't want to be there, who's not in the first team picture & even more so when there's another club offering you money for him.

I've seen a £500k fee being bandied around on social media and that would make sense.

Hopefully there will be some outgoing players today as well (Gladon & a few others?) - but other than that I predict a quiet day.
