Israel-Palestine

Well on here, there were several who automatically assumed it was true and ridiculed TP for suggesting that it might not be? So that's why news of it NOT being true was of particular interest.
Nobody has said it isn't true.

But then if you're looking at the difference between how babies were murdered you're one sick fuck.

It's been confirmed it's NOT true, has it? Must have missed that.

TP got shit for the inappropriateness of a smart arsed, one word dismissal at a time when an emotive human horror story was unfolding fast.

Using the term "gleefull" in reference to anyone's thought process regarding this issue is pretty fucking sick in my opinion.

Are you kidding? Obviously you don't go on Twitter much. Plenty of glee and rejoicing and point-scoring at many aspects of this horror show. I'd have thought any reasonable, caring person would be horrified by those displays?

Plenty of people focusing on this detail before all other considerations, and it's always people who have politically tied themselves to one side or the other

Where as you accuse people (presumably aimed at me?) of being "gleefull" about this topic, which is fine I guess?

Just to confirm, the post was about Twitter and the like, not TWF, I just checked again and think that's quite clear?

But if it appeared that way, let me clarify that I wasn't accusing you or TP of being gleeful.

I think TP came across blunt and insensitive

It's being reported that Israeli bombing of fleeing Palestinians has resulted in the deaths of women and children.
(According to the BBC).
I stand by my posts earlier in the thread, this type of thing will cause more hatred, and more recruitment for radical Islam and support for Israel's response makes us in The West more vulnerable.

I think you came across as gullible.

I would have been heartbroken regardless of how those babies were murdered in cold blood
Understandable, me too.
I wouldnt have been surprised if it were true either tbh.
Id rather not read it.
I just think we need to be cautious with some of the news reporting.
There are agenda's and politicians and big businesses involved with the narrative.
I am cynical admittedly.

This may be true, but I wish people in The West would stop thinking this justifies atrocities. It doesn't.

The fuckers who commit these atrocities bear full responsibility, provoked or not

Correct.
Violence begets violence.

I think what some of us are trying to call attention to is the fact that Israel will gladly treat any Gazan as if they killed the babies their own hands.

And by Israel, do you mean those in power, or the Israeli people?

I don't need my attention calling to anything.

People should have focussed their attention on what Hamas did, for at least a beat, before moving onto what they think of Israel

What’s the line?

When a mass shooting happens here, I’m much less concerned with the individual who committed the act and much more concerned with the structural realities that allowed for or latently caused it.

That is the perspective by which I am approaching these events, as well.

But you just expressed, less than half an hour ago, concern with how 'Israel' were going to react towards the Gazans?!?

…exactly?

Israel is a country backed by Western political and military interests, they are part of the structure of power in the Middle East. A huge part.

Responding to a glaring contradiction in your thought process being exposed with 'exactly!' is quite bold.

Thanks for explaining Israel's geopolitical status for those of us who were unaware, but I struggle to see the relevance, or your point. Would you like me to list the allies of Hamas?

What does any of that have to do with dead Israeli babies and children?

Quite startling btw how 'Israel' is catch-all (not just for Alan), yet it's Hamas or Gazans/Palestinians for the other side
